you cant be the GOAT if you never fought the best in your time...retiring and then returning to fight elite fighters like cotto and pacquaio, to name a few that is past their prime is not a trait of the greatest...

 

Some of the arguments ppl out up are kinda funny to me, it's like we act like things aren't documented and recorded for you to find. Mayweather isn't the GOAT but he probably is TBE which is two different things most of his biggest rivals got white washed when they fought Floyd and even if you complain about timing it's on record that most of these guys ducked Floyd.

Find me any video of Mosley even mentioning Mayweather before 2007/8 meanwhile you had Floyd calling him out side the 90's, Oscar too for that matter. Cotto and TR set up a fight at 140 with PBF vs his life time trainer partner and semi decent fighter himself in Brussels and after watching his style get obliterated never mentioned PBF again and even admitted before their actually fight that Top Rank at no point ever tried to make the fight. Even Manny who has an actual argument for GOAT greatest and best are different his fans will make excuses but ducking testing was well documented,then the stadium incident they try to act like didn't happen. at the end of the day can only fight who will fight you still managed to beat the most champs ever at the time 5 division Champ 4xLineal, beat all of the best fighters of his era and beat like 10 straight World Champs in a row at one point.. I think if he would have taken he Cotto route and tried for Lineal MW an even more solid argument could be made. But overall greatness isn't the same as best overcoming obstacles pushing yourself beyond ordinary standards,doing unprecedented things all encompass greatness I think Mayweather might be the BEST ever though most skilled from the early offensive dynamo to the older crafty master boxer the way he flat out dominated and pretty much cruised through 47/50 opponents more or less is crazy and ridiculous maybe one of the hardest to best ever with no real weakness except for fragile hands. One of the last true greats of this boxing era

 

No Floyd isnt the G.O.A.T But he is the A.S.S

 

There is no one near his level, he's that good.
Like [url]miniq[/url] said, Floyd's boxing ability is definitely superior to that of Ali. Plenty surpass Ali in this department.
But being a better boxer does not mean he's greater. The main reason many see Ali as the GOAT is his incredible impact on the sport, what he achieved outside the ring.

I dont hate Mayweather, I just have absolutely no respect for him. He was blessed with God Given incredible boxing talent, well dancing talent really. What he lacked was the courage & balls he also needed to make him the ATG he still thinks he is. He plain just didnt have the balls to FIGHT!!
He was a totally manufactured champion. He was not allowed to lose in Vegas because he made them too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ . He is a PROVEN ped's abuser, just look at IV gate & dirty A samples on tests but the B samples swept under the carpet. I wont mention his woman beating. I guess he enjoyed that because they couldnt fight back like a man would

I don't exactly like him as a person either, but as a boxer he deserves all the respect in the world.

He wasn't the first dancer. And Ali also fals into the same category.

He beat everyone he ever faced. And again, guys like Leonard and Ali also didn't want to fight and they preferred to tap opponents in order to win it on points.

He won all his fights fair and square. Just one was disputable.
And plenty of big names were handed decisions cause they were the cash cows. Again, Ali and Leonard come to mind. Ali benefited from far more favorable and questionable decisions than Mayweather.

Plenty have used PEDS, you're the DELUSIONAL one if you think Mayweather is the only one.
And his personal life is irrelevant. Ali treated his women much worse. He treated Joe like crap. Ali was far worse, yet you don't talk about that.
