Sarcasm aside, I think that Jeffries fights showed Fitz limitations. Your point is very fair and it's possible that Rocky would stop him.
I mean, I don't think they did 'show limitations'. He literally fought the guy who was seen as the best fighter ever whilst weight 30-50lbs less and was 10+ years younger. The fact he was beating the **** outta him before being stopped in the rematch, and the stoppage was basically a product of him lowering his hands. He could deck Marciano and give him a real fight, but he's too small to win IMO.
As well as not being as heavy as Jeffries, Fitz would actually have a reach advantage against Rocky (rather than the disadvantage he had against Jeffries), and a slight height advantage. Fitz was basically beating Maher with one hand after the first round in their first fight.
People don't appreciate how well rounded fighter he was. He could beat elite fighters even when he was over 40 and had bad hands. Fitz could box with anybody and Rocky wasn't masterful defensively.
Fitz had almost identical dimensions to Charles and peak Ezzard wasn't that much heavier than prime HW Fitzsimmons. Ezzard fought much differently of course, but I don't think that Bob was too small to beat Rocky.
Fitz couldn’t set up like Walcott and Moore. He was only floored because he didn’t see the shots coming. I don’t see Marciano taking more then a few rounds to finish him.
Actually I never knew about it until now. I do remember the Carnera/Bowe thread, one of the ATG threads of this forum.
Once again if you’d like the stats you’re more then welcome to them. You can’t really mock stats can you?
