Bob Fitzsimmons vs Rocky Marciano

Im interested in the stats im very interested in them

 

Soon as I get home I’ll post some if you like. Out of the greats only Wlad was hit less then Marciano. And even then it was barely. Idk why people assume he was just a brawling mess. He had a style. Similar to Qawi who was considered really good defensively but for some reason calling marciano good defensively is a problem? Even guys like Moore were taken aback at how good defensively Marciano was. They didn’t realize he’d be so hard to hit cleanly.

Fitz was the master of setting KO punches up. Have you seen his KO punch against Corbett? He's definitely on Moore and Walcott level in that aspect, but he probably had even more power.

 

I agree that he's not close to being as bad as some claim, but amazing defense? No, he was hit a lot. I know compubox stats, but they are far from everything.

 

Why do you assume that Fitzsimmoms waa bad defensively? He was not outboxed in 15 years outside of first Jeffries fight.

 

I think they showed Jeffries limitations.A 39 years old man,12 years his senior, coming out of 2 years retirement, 47lbs lighter, beat the **** out of him before his hands went on him .

I dont hate Jeffries, I'm just saying if anybodies limitations were exposed in that fight they were Jeffries and I have the news reads to prove it! So little man, don't give me orders.

You don't discuss, you try and lecture and its not very becoming at your age.You made a statement when the exact opposite is what actually happened.In that fight Jeffries was described as amateurish with Fitz being able to hit him at will ,when and where he liked.The consensus was that had they been anywhere near the same size and age Fitz would have won.This proves that if anyone's limitations were exposed in that fight they were Jeffries , which is all I said and stating the truth is not hatred . Why don't you look the fight up if you don't believe me?

 

My knee jerk reaction was to pick Rocky by ko ,but the fact that Fitz beat up Sharkey twice gives me some pause for thought.I'm still picking Marciano ,but he might have to get up off the floor to win.Intruiging fight.

 

You don't know my age and using age as an argument is very immature itself.

I know what happened in Jeffries II fight and that's my point. Even when Fitz beat up Jeffris badly he couldn't finish him. His size disadvantage was a limitation. I don't talk about imaginary 25 years old 220 lbs Fitzsimmons, I'm talking about real one.

As I said, Jeffries was different than Rocky so maybe Fitz would be able to stop Marciano, but two Jeffries fights gives some counterarguments. That's all, you don't have to rave about how limited was Jeffries. This is not the point of this thread, so please sit down and stay on this topic.
