Not sure Khabib be the same after Gaethje beats the breaks off of him.

    At 170 - GSP wins.
    At 155 - Khabib wins.

My opinion is that a current prime 155 lb fighter should move up to prove himself against an old LEGEND in GSP at 170. It is a disgrace if Khabib expects GSP to come down to 155 to fight him. That's pathetic and a win over GSP at 155 means NOTHING imo.

GSP is the best MMA wrestler I have ever seen. He is light years ahead of Khabib is the striking department but he is obviously old now and very inactive in recent years. I voted for GSP because imo the fight should be held at 170lbs.

Khabib you want GSP on your resume then go up and fight him at 170 or shut up about it.

It is indeed pathetic. My guess is that after Gaethje destroys Khabib that the talk of having the fight at 155 will simmer down. Khabib then loses his bargaining chip and will have to go up if he wants to take the fight.

On a slightly different matter. 155 will be. MUCH better division once that guy is out of the picture. Hes held the division up with his inactivity for years. It's grown very tiresome. Gaethje will usher in a new and improved era for LW. Back to seeing the belt defended at least twice a year.

Yep I'm sick of these champion fighters who basically NEVER fight. Khabib, Conor, Cruz, Cain etc etc etc. It gets really boring with the belts not getting defended. A champion should be defending against the top contender twice per year. 1 fight every 6 months is not too much to ask.

I always say if a champion hasn't defended or has a fight signed within 12 months of their last fight then they are stripped no questions asked.

And another thing. No more of these BS rematches when they are not necessary.

No more undeserved title opportunities such as Conor, Nick Diva Diaz, Holly Holm etc etc etc. Earn your shot.

When you consider pointless rematches and champion hardly ever defending then that's what cause a log jam of contender not getting their earned chance at the title.

GSP is my favorite fighter. In theory, he should have nearly every advantage over Khabib. Georges is a far superior and more diverse striker. He is arguably the best fighter ever with using his striking to set up his wrestling. He has incredible distance control with his jab and also showed a back leg side kick he used against Bisping that he could use to keep Khabib off of him.

Georges never got the credit he deserved for his defensive wrestling, either. Other than Hughes, Koscheck, and Hendricks, who ever really took Georges down in a fight? He would always get back to his feet, too. Hughes was the only one able to hold GSP down and do something with it, and that was a very green GSP at that.

Khabib's entire game revolves around using a barrage of sloppy strikes, or a flying knee, to close the distance and shoot for a double leg or that single leg cut takedown. When he fails with the double leg, as he's not that explosive and his timing isn't amazing either, he gains upperbody control in the clinch and pushes his opponent up against the fence. From there, he'll either get a body lock, do an inside or outside trip, a hip toss, or drop down back to a double leg. Almost all of his takedowns come from the clinch.

Then of course, we know how great he is on the ground with his scientific ground and pound and his very underrated submission game. But if he can't get on top of his opponent, we see how limited he looks like in the Gleison Tibau.

So stylistically, GSP has a huge advantage in every way. I also think GSP has a greater fight IQ and has more experience in fights of this magnitude. But here's the thing. GSP is 39 now, right? and he presumably is going to have to cut weight to make this work, which will sap his strength considerably. If this fight would have happened when it was first being seriously discussed, I would picked GSP without a second's thought. But now you have a fighter who is in his absolute prime against a legend who has basically fought once in the past seven years.

I'll pick GSP for my bias and for the stylistic/skill advantages. But idk... a big part of me just wants him to ride off in the sunset with his legacy unblemished. Still, if he pulled this off... it's would cement his greatness to a level that I think it's hard to even fathom.

how are we so sure GSP has not lost a step these last few years?

im not even going to worry about this fight until habib fights Gatjie first.

cant wait to see what happens in that fight first.

Khabib loses and its dead in the water with GSP..I'd like to see it both at their best, Khabib is to one dimensional for the multi dimensional GOAT in GSP imo UTF

Beterbiev was being fast tracked before being frozen out due to his promoter as well as blatant ducking. He fought 2x last year with an elite career defining victory and was on pace to this with Meng and Bivol before Covid ruined those plans.

GSP beating Khabib at 155, at the age of 40 would be an incredible achievement
That **** could make him the greatest martial artist ever or possibly go as far as saying top 10 Athlete ever.
