Cooper turned his back in surrender more than once. He quit against Foreman Mugabi quit against Duane Thomas.
The russian welterweight who challenged wilder and fought him to a stand still. Adrien Broner is another brave person.
Cooper quit vs. Williams and Nate Miller too. He never quit in the '90 to '92 period, which is what I am mostly talking about.
I’m going to go with Derrik Holmes. Fought Wilfredo Gomez for the WBC 122 in 1980 on NBC (they started airing Friday Night Fights with a high-profile guy usually against a lesser opponent around this time). Holmes, who had stopped Gomez in the amateurs, was stopped in five. He went down I think eight times over the course of the third, fourth and fifth. Once or twice seemingly without really getting hit, at least not solid. Looked like he punked out. But there’s more to the story. The Ring ran photos of his X-rays after the fight. He had a compound fracture of the lower jaw. That means the jaw was literally broken all the way through, so in two pieces. And the break went right through the middle of a tooth. Half of it on one side of the jaw, half on he other. Literally cracked in half. Take a second and put your hand on the side of your lower jawbone, about halfway between the back and front of your teeth. That’s a pretty substantial piece of bone. It’s not like a finger that could just snap in two. First off, imagine the pain. Second, imagine the power it takes to crack through someone’s jaw, not just to fracture the bone but completely separate it all the way through INCLUDING A TOOTH. But he kept getting up. He kept trying. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such bravery. Holmes took more than a year off and had several more fights — won a few, lost a couple — but wasn’t the same. But I’ll never forget his courage.
How has noone yet mentioned Mickey Walker? Walker feared no man in the ring our out of it, champions, heavyweights, all time greats, mobsters, it didnt matter to him
Dillian Whyte, Lennox Lewis practically everyone in the golden era, Glen Johnson, Usyk fought everyone at crusierweight, Carl Thompson, The faboulous four, Todays Super Flyweights are fighting everyone
