Just watched Taylor v Delfine and was struck by how her style is just like Khan`s, she still has an amateur style, moving back in a straight line like Khan posting her lead glove to keep her opponent on the outside or holding, I wasn`t impressed at all, is her skill level overrated just like Khan`s was?
She's even older than Amir Khan. She is 34. Eddie Hearn talks about her like she is some Irish teenager prodigy Biologically, she has - what Red Pill "awoke" men call - "hit the wall". Google what that means.
Like Khan she relies on her speed and flashy combo's a lot and that tendency to stand there and unload in combination played into Persoon's strengths. She also showed a lack of ability to tie her opponent up which Khan has struggled with too. Persoon dominated her in the clinches, out muscling her and roughing her up in close. But unlike Khan she does counter punch, though not as much as I would of liked to have seen and she did later on in the fight showed some ability to adjust and started to move and box more, throwing single shots and fewer big combo's and started to catch Persoon coming in. But she lost her way late in the fight and again ended up fighting Persoon's type of fight. That last round where she just stood and traded with Persoon was dumb, gutsy but dumb. We'd never see Khan stand his ground and trade like that, he doesn't have the chin to do that unlike Taylor who seems to take a better shot in comparison to Khan. I guess we'll see in the rematch if she can make further adjustments and stick to a game plan. If she can she should win a decision but if she get's derailed and ends up fighting Persoon's fight again, she may not be so lucky 2nd time round to walk out with the titles.
I think they were taught that style in the amateurs, it`s a very stand upright European style that you see in the amateurs.
It was interesting to see the scraggy Taylor panicking every time Persoon took a step forward. I just hope she's isn't ragdolled badly against that ferocious she beast in the rematch.
I meant he fought the same way in the pros as he did in the amateurs, he couldn`t fight on the inside and just clinched until he could move on the outside, he used exessive movement and just flurried here and there with his head upright in the traditional European style like Ritchie Woodhall.
