To fight anyone anytime. 99/100 would have just waited until they got their shot and maybe fought a couple bums in the meantime. Look at Charr, pulev, Parker, Wilder,Ortiz etc
Even fury fought 2 low risk fights against Schwarz and wallin.
Whyte is taking on killers back to back.
Povetkin is also taking tough fights.

Full credit to them! This is rare these days with the Mayweather/0-keeping mentality of many modern boxers running rampant

    EXACTLY

Breazeale waited too.... Whyte fought these guys for no ranking benefit at all. Absolute beast, as he has 80% less fighting experience than most of these guys

Fury fought Wallin, Pianeta, Shcwarz, Seferi... all nobodies.

Now Fury is ducking Whyte again to fight another nobody

That's what happens when you're Eddie Hearn's dosser...

AJ, Wilder and Fury are protected assets.

Whyte is not. He has to fight who they put in front of him.

He almost pulled a Miller though but politics and $$$ help you out.

Whyte needs to beat a member of the bomb squad before he gets to challenge for that shiny green belt. Grandpa Ortiz is waiting on standby, in the old age pension home.

I give the man massive credit.
Whyte is a great boxer, funny bloke, amazing for boxing as a whole. He's been massively screwed by WBC for years.

But unfortunately, he will always be a roider in my eyes. His legacy will forever be tarnished.

What? He ducked Pulev in Bulgaria. Pulev was waiting for him to settle the eliminator. Whyte ducked out and Hughie showed up with a cut brow. Hughie also faced Povetkin earlier and Parker earlier, despite being far younger than Whyte.

Well, 11, not 12, and nearly half were rubbish fights. (LOL)

Ivica Bacurin. Malcolm Tann. Ian Lewison. Dave Allen. Mariusz Wach. (Is anyone going back and rewatching those?)

He did decision Parker (and got floored), decision Rivas (and got floored), decision and stop Chisora, decision Helenius and stop Browne.

I'm looking forward to the fight this Saturday. Good matchup.

You'd need to be a real special case to let this tar your opinion of him, considering you'd be hard pressed to find a top level athlete who is not utilising the finest pharmaceuticals.

    What?

Washington and Duhauapas knocked out Helenius (Whyte only outpointed him). Szpilka beat Wach. Arreola beat Tann 10 years before Whyte fought the 40-year-old version.

Drawing with Fury (and dropping him twice) and knocking out Ortiz twice (and flooring him five times) is better than anything Whyte has ever done, including fighting a 40-year-old Povetkin.

Hell, knocking out Breazeale in one might be better than anything Whyte has ever done. I don't know if Parker or Rivas are even significantly better than Breazeale.

But it should be a good fight Saturday. I'm looking forward to it.

Lots of good opposing points of view through this thread, found myself going back and forth agreeing.

Look, Whyte could have sat it out, waited and got his shot, he has taken a bigger risk than he should have done really but Whyte wants to get paid now while he is in his prime, so it's OK sitting around but he won't get paid for it.

Also without a belt, at Heavyweight you need solid opponents to make any real money.

Yeah, this a is brave move but could end up been seen as a stupid one because Povetkin has turned up looking well rested, fresh and in fantastic shape.

This is going to be a really dangerous fight, probably the most dangerous fight Whyte has been involved in, he has a lot to lose, also Whyte won't get much credit if he wins and will get destroyed if he loses, it's a real high risk low reward fight in terms of position and reputation.
