Jones was one of the most devastating punchers in LHW history. Why can't he put away someone who went life and death with Bert Cooper?
At 175 lbs. Jones W 12 Moorer left LHW before establishing himself against the best and skipped CW. At HW Moorer was more carefull for the most part Jones would have a harder time against the HW version of Moorer.
Tarver would always have given Roy issues. But Roy was never the same when he went back to LHW. You can visibly see that. How is it an excuse? How come the same thing also happened to Byrd, Dawson and Tarver?
He was above 193 and he burnt muscle in just a few months in order to make weight. He didn’t resemble the same fighter in their first fight and he got taken out by a great shot in the rematch.
He went to heavyweight and back down to light heavyweight at 35. That's going down two weight classes. He was 193 pounds and was still lean and cut. If you want me to believe there was 18 pounds of water/body fat on that version of Roy Jones and it was just a matter of jogging off the weight please spare me Give me one example of anyone pulling that off at a championship level in boxing. It doesn't happen. It's unheard of
Michael Moorer with Emmanuel Steward in his corner would be absolute hell for Roy Jones at LHW, Cruiserweight, or Heavyweight. I can see Jones going 1-2 out of the 3 at best.
Zero mentions of anyone dropping 2 weight classes at 35 years old and having championship level success. I give 2 shits about what happens in the UFC it's a different sport. Fall back youngin I'm done with you now
He looked to be in good shape before he got caught by a great shot. We’d have known more had the fight gone on longer. Despite the fact they’d recently fought, the first round was a typical feeling each other out round. He was better prepared for the rematch. He’d had more time and he was back with Mackie Shilstone. But according to Mackie, the damage had already been done. According to Mackie, burning muscle at an advanced stage affects the body’s immune system. He says that he told Roy to take a prolonged break and not to to drop back for Tarver. Roy wasn’t shot for Tarver, but he wasn’t the fighter he’d been previously. I think he was shot for Johnson. He had diminished reflexes and punch resistance and was no longer capable of beating top level fighters.
How is that thread relevant to what’s been mentioned in this debate? The circumstances are completely different.
I don’t see Moorer being entirely unbearable for Jones. At light heavy he was being outboxed by Leslie Stewart for most of 8 rounds before stopping him and at heavyweight he was decked by Everett Bigfoot Martin and Bert Cooper among others. About the only thing I’ll give him is the power factor which is significant.
Bert cooper? Ejem... Cooper fought a war with a peak Holyfield and did put him down...Bert cooper would extract the head of Jones literally ... And if you insinuate a different thing then the boxing history is not your topic
yes. and then you wake up, mom gives your cheerios for breakfast and then you have to go to the school
