The postponed Tyson versus Jones Jr fight is apparently the first in a series called the “league of legends” from what I just read does anyone else know anything about this? and what the plans are? Oscar? Holyfield?
I was hoping for bowe vs holyfield. At least throw in Shannon Briggs in there and dare I say it wlad klitchko. Both Briggs and klitchko have they're conditioning still. For wlad he's only been inactive for a portion of the time, Briggs on the other hand has great physical stature. It would be nice to hear "let's go champ" for real.
I wonder if there is an age cut off, or a minimum of years They’ve been in active to be eligible to compete in this To put Wlad Klitschko, whose still “relatively somewhat fresh” in against someone like Riddick Bowe or Holyfield would not be competitive at all but It’s all about making money, and this League of Legends, I’m not sure of any of the specifics on it
I think if a young hungry promoter got hold of this it would have some legs to it. Annual running tournament would be fun to watch. Tyson Jones Briggs Lewis Holyfield Rahman Klitschko Bowe With proper promotion and a decent rule set it could be fun competition. Just think it will be run in a substandard way for some reason.
What happens to washed up heavyweights? We seldom hear about them after their retirement. In fact the most retirements we hear from are from famous fighters only. Remember Eddie the tap dancing banker chambers? What about seth Mitchell the hw football player hopeful? Where are they now? Bring forth chambers vs Mitchel in league of legends! It would be a fun fight while it lasted. Both were fringe contenders that did very well.
You want to throw Wlad in with those guys? Jesus. Do you know how that would look? Wlad is prob still capable of beating a number of the current top ten heavyweights.
Ricky hatton looks like hes been training a bit recently. Starts to make you think when you hear things like this. His training regimes kind of came from no where as well. Its an interesting one. Everything points to it being a bad idea for these guys. But theres a lot of guys out there finished up and never really get over it. You wonder if it would actually maybe help them more than hinder them. In an ideal world these guys retire happy and move on with their lives...the reality tho is a lot of these guys really struggle to find their place in life after retirement.
What if they pulled off a headgear and 14 Oz or 16 Oz sparring gloves? Kinda like what corrie trex sanders and Tyson pulled off years back?
