Big pressure on Katie tonight. Biggest fight since Olympic final. The eyes of the world, well the boxing world, some unsympathetic, will be scrutinizing her performance tonight. She needs to box clever, and work the body at every opportunity. Go Katie!!
To all the doubtersthat didn't think Katiec could do it: this is the final nail in the coffin of your ability to judge boxing. If you genuinely can't understand what happened in there I'm sorry but there are lots of other sports you might consider following. There is simply no way anyone who understands boxing could see that as a win for the crude slugger, Persoon. That was virtuoso boxing from Katie. She thoroughly, comprehensively outboxed her opponent and won widely. Very widely. Brilliant performance from Katie. A clinic.

Love katie and never seen the first fight. But persoon won that fight imo. You cant really score it for katie tbh. Persoon pretty much dominated most of it. Katies the far more skilled boxer but if the opponent gets on top of you and outpunches you most of the fight...you cant win the fight. Persoons an absolute monster. Wondering if the weights a bit too much for katie. Shes brilliant...but struggled tonight due to size/strength and workrate. Persoon just looked naturally too strong etc.
Persoon won that. It was messy and she spoiled Taylors rhythm but of the two I thought she did more to win. It would be interesting to see how that style would work in 3 minute rounds though and I still don't understand why the rounds can't be 3 minutes, women run the same distance as men in marathons, women's UFC rounds are the same length as the men's too, why does boxing have to be different?
Persoon battered her, and I always prefer the boxer over brawler/pressure fighter. There’s just no way Taylor landed anywhere near enough.
Taylor is way past it now, best days were in the ams, she looks out of breath after throwing two shots and Persoons spirited but crude attacks wouldn't have come within a mile of Taylor in her pomp nor would she have failed to make Persoon pay for her misses. Taylors life is boxing so I hope she doesn't eventually just become some name who cant quit and ends up losing to a bunch of girls who wouldn't have lived with her in her prime
Just checked compubox stats, persoon landed more but it was quite close numbers wise. The most shocking stat is this and it's almost a repeat from the first fight and Taylors team should take note. Taylor landed just TWO jabs from the last 6 rounds. Two. Her jab output fell considerably and it was the same pattern in the first fight. Persoon landed 3 x as many jabs as Taylor in the entire fight. They both landed a similar number of power punches but Persoon threw almost 3x as many.
I m not convinced of them stats tbh. Unless its katie own dad who,s counts them. Watching the fight...it seems impossible that persoons not landing much more than taylor. And thats from a taylor fan. Not seen a lot of her tbh...but think shes brilliant outside of the ring...was rooting for her. Both girls showed unbelievable heart tonight.
Persoon is a full time police woman who had to ask for 6 weeks off to train. Taylor has the benefit of having the matchroom outfit behind her to the point where she can train and box for a living. Makes you wonder how good fighters that have to 9 to 5 like Persoon could be. Probably 10x better if they had the same luxuries as these olympic talents like Taylor
