mcvey ]Johnson carried Ketchel,it's not even debateable ,he picked him up and set him back on his feet at one point.
Please produce ringside press reports of Johnson being dazed after the fight?

Johnson doesn't need to change my mind, you have already done that.

As I said, I now pick Johnson by ko, previously that wasn't the case.

You need a drive to Barnard Castle mate. It's a legit haymaker on the jaw. Brilliant reaction by Johnson because Ketchel was moving in to try and finish Johnson and he counters him perfectly. He obviously carried Ketchel.

Watch the fight in slow motion Johnson begins to fall before the punch lands. His sparring partner for the fight, GunBoat Smith said the knockdown was faked to increase sales of the movie rights, for which Johnson was on a percentage.

What a ridiculous statement ,solely driven by an agenda to disparage Johnson.

    You're argument was very strong.

As you say Ketchel really hurt Johnson. If Jones is able to do the same and make Johnson that angry he will have his lower mandible removed.

    I can do that.

1 ) If I show it to you, will you accept the detail as fact?

2 ) If I show you Johnson own words right after the fight that he was hurting, will you accept that as fact?

    I'm waiting...

    Luf,

Schools in session. Grab a desk, front and center, and be sure to take notes.

How does Johnson fight? Safety first. Waiting to be hurt before risking an offense is not a good stagger in boxing.

Do you want to go over Johnson's KO percentage, and failure to stop multiple men under 175 pounds? It's a losing proposition for you, but we can. I'm willing to show you.

Do you think Jones will stand still for him to grab and hit? We did not even talk about Jones defense yet. James Toney and Bernard Hopkins, two very skilled guys could not land much.

Jones will easily win the battle of the jabs. As I showed you, Jack O'brien did the same.

If Ketchel can hurt Johnson with hardly landing much, what do you think Jones who would land a lot more would do to him?

    The conclusion is rather elementary.

What do you see on film? I see a guy with no guard, who's stationary and easy to hit. I see an offense that is unimaginative that has no jab at mostly features wild swings. I have seen some tough-man fights, some of them display better than Ketchel. Amateurs 6 months into the sport have better fundamentals. Ketchel's style worked for him at middle weight in his time because he had power, but let's not crown him as a heavyweight puncher as I can not recall one that he stopped.

I'm agreeing with Mendoza. Jones will likely hit him ar hard as Ketchel did. And we saw what happened after Ketchel hit Johnson.

Do you think Jones could take the right hand that knocked Ketchel out?

I've seen Papke fight and he wasn't just a toughman, he showed a lot of subtle moves especially inside. Papke was just really tough to fight against, he was outstanding clincher and grappler - look what he did to Carpentier for example. Not to mention that Ketchel wasn't at his best anymore in fights we have on film.

I can't judge him on film against Johnson because Jack toyed with him and he was helpless. I wouldn't fancy a lot of MW doing better than him to be honest against peak Johnson.

Probably not, but that happened just once in Johnson's career. Roy Jones jr has top ring generalship and defense, so the same punch thrown to Roy Jones would not land as squarely. Ketchel has about as much defense as a heavyweight bag.

Ketchel was stopped twice before Johnson and never beat anyone I recognize fitting as a heavyweight, or light heavyweight.

Chins are best graded when tested. Since Johnson often fought the green, very old, very small, or hose mild skills, his wasn't tested often. In 1909, he was TKO' d by Gunboat Smith in a 4 round exhibition match. Smith was about 180 pounds and probably hit on Roy Jones level. I'm assuming Jones is at least the same weight as Smith. Choynski who Ko'd Johnson cold was below 180 pounds when he did it.

Neither Smith nor Choynski has Roy Jones speed or skills, and Roy Jones at light heavyweight entered the ring likely heavier than both.

My point, you don't need to be 200 pounds to stop Johnson. 175 will do.
