The lack of respect for Povetkin is ridiculous

Every time I see Povetkin fight I love him more and more. He's clearly on his last legs as a fighter but his powers of recovery are amazing, boxing skills are unquestionable, and bravery also. His skill makes up for his age.

Was a massive underdog on the betting odds.... LOL. I understand if you had Whyte has the favourite, but it was an almost 50/50 if not a 50/50.

The sky commentary yesterday was funny as hell. All of them Jerking off over Whyte the entire time, as if every jab was ALI-esque, and talking about Povetkin being finisher, basically never giving povetkin a chance.

I loved the stunned silence around everywhere when Whyte was KO'd. SIT DOWN everyone!

I also loved the "lucky punch" and "steroids" comments coming up from the sore Whyte fans. ROFL WHAT THE HELL WAS LUCKY ABOUT THAT PUNCH? IT WAS PURE QUALITY!!! HOW WAS THAT LUCKY?

WHYTE has been knocked down by - Joshua, Parker, Rivas before he fought povetkin. Why wouldn't you think Whyte couldn't quite easily be KO'd against someone who - caused AJ problems, someone who's obviously better than Parker and Rivas, and has only lost to world champions?

Povetkin is one of the most respectable boxers around now, and his skill is unquestionable. Shout steroids all you want, you cannot fake that level of skill.

That punch while quality saved povetkin, it was apparent he would have been in trouble in the later rounds

Povetkin looked like he was about to enter a phase of getting dropped from anything Whyte touched him with.

Not a good place to be

Whyte should have clinched and literally just pushed him over for some more knockdowns, That's what Wlad did the useless robot.

I don't agree with saying it "saved" povetkin.

Povetkin took advantage of Whyte basically ignoring his corners excellent advice of "your landing every time with your jab, don't go after him yet".

Whyte has the ability to beat Povetkin, but does that mean he has the brains? Whyte came out of his shell too early, and paid the price.

And as Whyte comes out of his shell to try and KO povetkin, remember Whyte has clear weaknesses in his defence, and Povetkin is a fantastic counter puncher.

    1. Povetkins punch was pure quality.

    2. Whyte has vulnerabilities.

    3. Povetkin has gone the distance twice recently, and gotten a win and a draw.

    4. Whyte has been hurt against lesser fighters later on.

I see no evidence to suggest that Whyte would have dominated late on honestly. It's a clear case of people assuming Povetkin is finished.

Being on your last legs and being finished are not the same.

Its a great win for Povetkin, just as he was looking near baked, excellent set up and delivery of the shot, the type of come from behind victory that makes boxing great.

I dont think ita disrespectful that people favoured Whyte going in. In reality Povetkin has lost two of his last three fights, was stopped visciously by Joshua and was hurt several times against Hunter and very fortunate to get a draw in that fight.

His punch resistance is very much on the way out and he was hurt again last night but luckily for Povetkin he still has his power equaliser and boxing brain that has made up for his physical decline and fair play to him last night, he came through and pushed himself back into a genuine contenders position again.

Id just ignore Sky, they dont really care about having a non biased output, they are there just to sell their own fighters and have been like that for a very long time.

Yet he recovers and looks like he could knock out anyone though. Maybe that's just part of his danger.

Everyone thinks "id' knock out this old guy", but almost get ko'd themselves or get KO'd like whyte.

Hunter thought he had Povetkin beat after the first round, but Povetkin came back and won enough of the later rounds to convince the judges.

I personally think Pov was a bit lucky with the draw, but I don't think it was a shock result. Povetkin has a great style that the judges love and always lands quality, so it's not his fault he lands enough to win more rounds than you think,

Amateur record 125-7 all 7 losses avenged

Povekin has stepped foot into a boxing ring a combined 171 times amateur and pro and of his 9 losses only 2 have gone unavenged and both of them were against fellow Olympic gold medalists who were way bigger, longer and heavier than him and were three-belt unified champions and the #1 ranked HWs in the world. And Wlad was allowed to get away with a scandalous amount of holding and mauling, using his extra size and weight to sap Povetkin of energy and thwart his attacks and he was 39 y/o and way past his best albeit still very formidable when he lost to the much younger AJ in his backyard.

    vs Wlad

    Povetkin 225¾ - Wlad 241¾

    Povetkin 6'2'' - Wlad 6'6''

    Povetkin 75'' reach - Wlad 81''

    Povetkin - 34 - Wlad 37

    vs AJ

    Povetkin 222 - AJ 245¼

    Povetkin 6'2'' - AJ 6'6''

    Povetkin 75'' reach - AJ 82'' reach

    Povetkin 39 - AJ 28

Povetkin just beat the #3 ranked HW in the world via savage HL reel KO of the Year contender and he did so in their backyard two weeks before his 41 st birthday coming back from being dropped x 2 in the previous round. And Whyte had huge advantages in weight, reach and youth on him and was in the best shape of his career.

In his previous fight prior to facing Whyte he fought the avoided and streaking danger man Hunter over in Saudi in what was a candidate for HW Fight of the Year, who again is much younger and fresher than him

In his fight prior to that he beat the slick and awkward as hell much younger Hughie Fury in his backyard whose slippery elusive style should be a nightmare for an arthritic senior citizen

In his fight prior to that he fought AJ in his backyard and again was giving away huge advantages in height, weight, reach and youth. He was winning the fight prior to a momentary lapse in concentration and getting caught with a silly shot. Credit to AJ because he has fast hands and he was able to pounce on him and get him out of there. Worth noting that it took him about 7 or 8 huge shots in quick succession to put Povetkin on his ass the first time and that was after he'd been hurt bad by the first shot that started the rot.

And in his fight prior to AJ he fought Price over in his backyard too

He was 39 when he fought AJ, 40 when he fought Hughie and Hunter, and he turns 41 in a couple of weeks

Yeah the ‘steroid’ finger pointing is mainly from the types dangle berries that can’t even spell steroids right most of the time. So to say I consider the source is an understatement

Povetkin is one of the most respectful fighters ever. He has always had much respect for all his opponents in the face-off and in the fights.

    Same can

Povetkin is an excellent contender. With good power and very underrated and overlooked as of recently .

Despite his accomplishments it is not an accusation but a fact . that povetkin tested positive for melodonium in 2016 and ostarine December 2016

    These are facts .

What a failed attempted to stain (No pun intended ;)) his name. First of all, MELDONIUM wasn’t on the banned list when Povetkin took it. TRACES of it were found in his system. Like 0.00001 of a trace. And he didn’t test positive for Ostarine in 2016. It was 2017 before the Stiverne fight.

Ostarine isn’t a hardcore PED like what Holyfield, Toney and Miller took. Look up facts before posting.

I always rated Povetkin. He's certainly earned himself a big rep in the UK of late.
