Start a thread - what does KO'd mean to you?

Link it with the ATG "What does floored mean to you" thread and we could disregard almost every KO in boxing history.

Maybe it was the opposite of what Lewis said after losing to haseem rahman " I didn't get knocked out; I just didn't beat the count" lol

It was a KTFO in simple and plain terms.
To call it a tko diminshes it and is stupid.

I find it ridiculous that Povetkin's wins over Wach and Whyte are both considered "TKOs". Wach took EVERYTHING from the best version of Povetkin without being hurt and was stopped on cuts only, while Whyte was really KTFOed with a single punch

@Big Ukrainian During the fight did you hear Povetkin's corner say anything about pulling him out? I ask because Whyte said in his interview with Sky the morning after the fight: "His corner was on the verge of pulling him out".

There's also this quote that's meant to be from Povetkin's corner:
"you can’t keep taking shots they become more powerful, are you ok to continue"

but that just sounds like a general wellbeing check, not them being on the verge of pulling him out.

Then there has to be a poll option "hurt but staying on your feet, holding" to make it historically legit.

KO or TKO just technical terms, same winner, same result.

If we are getting forensic about it, most KOs are not KOs, as majority of boxers are not actually knocked out, they just fail to beat the 10 count.

I am damned sure Povetkin is not crying into his vodka over the result being classified as TKO.

If the guy finish the count on his feet, but can`t continue its a TKO, if the guy is waved or can`t beat the count is a KO.
The funny part is both Whyte loses were a 100% KO, yet they are both TKO officially ....
    This is beyond b.c.

So if a boxer sends his opponent to Uranus and then referee waves it, then it is a TKO.

    Sweet.

Of course this is only a detail, but we must admit that it is quite stupid and not representative of the outcome of the fight.
The referee did not count because there was no chance Whyte would get up before the count, because contrary to the official result he was perfectly KO'd.

Technically he was knocked out. You could enforce the point by screaming to 10 in his face rather than get him some help, this way it would help out people that don't know what tko means?

Whyte was knocked out. That was a KO.
