Only ever went there a couple of times mate. A lot of faces in there that we were better staying clear of.
Id still rate McGuigan one on one ( obviously its not gonna be 1 henchman unarmed) but barrys pretty muscular at 60...he was a world champion which is light years above in skill and fighting ability the usual heavy sports direct dressed hardmen from the 80s and 90s.. plus McGuigan is still a huge hero in ireland... Whatever i thought of his punditry manners...barry was a phenomenal fighter...and with the terrible thing with his daughters death I hope he can find some peace on this.
Frampton didn't honour his contract. Simple as that. And Kinehan is a scumbag thug. McGuigan is a boxing legend who has done so much for the sport and for Ireland, before Frampton was born.
Respect your elders. Honour your contract, unless you were drugged when you signed it (or had a gun held to your head).
Agree with bulldog. Heard from josh taylor recently trying to justify leaving the mcguigans. It was stuff like "they didnt invite me to vegas...i,d have wanted to go as well" and "the hotel room they got me was pretty small" Real pitiful stuff. Honour your contract. Feel sorry for the mcguigans. Be better off out of it. Murky business.
McGuigans were managing Taylor. A man who had up'd sticks and planted himself down at shanes gym. Taylor's gripe was that outside of the training hours they took no interest on his well being, they once went away for the week and didn't even leave him access to the gym. Now that's not managing a world champion fighter bud, it's not as simple as "pitiful stuff" they did the training requirements yes but they didn't manage him correctly imo
No offence but taylors a grown man....probably not even true but even if it was....what was he looking for....invited round to play playstation with barry. The mcguigans are there to manage his career and train him...and by almost all accounts we,re doing a tremendous job of it. Honestly think thats just excuses because taylor got offered a better deal. Fair enough but be man enough to admit it. Things like saying my hotel room wasnt good enough or they never invited me to vegas or they never became my friend...is 5 year old stuff imo. Couldnt imagine someone like barrera saying something like that. Theres plenty of other fighters in mcguigans gym i m sure taylor could have buddied up with a few of them if he was lonely etc. What doesnt make sense is he wanted to go with booth. Cant imagine booth kicking about with him either tbh. Or getting him a fancy hotel room. Taylor was the mcguigans biggest star. Or at least one of them. Cant imagine them pushing him to the side. Its not really how the world works. Maybe if taylor had started losing or that...but the guy thats winnings almost always getting plenty of attention.
In the states the Ali act doesn't allow a boxing promotor to also be the manager. Barry has a setup with family where they are the promotion manager and trainer.
Its true isnt it. The mans too classy and gentlemanly that way (away from a pundits studio ) to say anything..but even at 60 one on one if any of these "gangsters" and aged "hard man " think theyre beating a barry mcguigan....i think theyre deluded...McGuigan would beat the s**** out of Kinehan
Kinehan is a ***** without rope, a white van, a gun, a blade, duct tape, a few lines (or kilos) and 7 others
I don't think so many family members have been on one promotional pay roll since Don King, it's a clear conflict of interest and anybody defending it needs to catch themselves on
Daniel Kinehan isn't going to walk up to McGuigan and ask him for a square go, Daniel couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag, it's the psychopathic hitmen he has working for him you need to be wary of, these guys don't exactly fight fair either, if they don't have a gun they will slice your throat from behind. They aren't sending anybody after Barry though
