This is what worries me about Povetkin / Wilder. Sasha used to have great head movement, but it's much less now, and so are his reflexes. Whyte was catching him with straight shots and vs Wilder, that's very bad. On the other hand Povetkin likes to get to work early whereas Wilder likes to take his time. Pov fights well close up and Wilder does not. I'm slightly favouring Wilder now due to the age factor.

I thought Povetkin failed a drugs test when they were set to fight. I think Povetkin would have won back then but Wilder would beat him now.

One loss makes you a bum in the eyes of most of the idiots on here. Just look at all the Whyte threads popping up since his loss.

Id take the Wilder in the Ortiz fights over current Povetkin. I think Wilders range and patience would suit him well here... and I think Povetkin would provide plenty of opportunities for Wilder to land fight ending bombs.

Slow and cumbersome Whyte had Povetkin down twice in how many rounds? Why would I not think Wilder would do the same... but with more effect?

Id have it 65/35 for Wilder.

    No.

When Povetkin was going to fight Wilder, he was accused of using a recently banned substance, meldonium, and the WBC refused to enforce on the charge because it could not be determined if the meldonium had been taken before or after the ban. Povetkin sued and won against the Wilder camp for cancelling their fight.

There was no Wilder fight on the line for the second charge. The substance, ostarine, it is a banned SARM (which I think is similar to a pro-steroid), but one which is known to be put illegally, sometimes without labeling, in dietary supplements, and certain athletes have been able to prove that they took it unintentionally. There was again only very small amounts in his system.

I am not saying that Povetkin has never done PEDS, but the first charge was complete bull****, and the second is something that you have to look at and decide for yourself. I don't fully know what to make of it. Povetkin is responsible for what goes into his body, but If the stuff is known to be used (illegally) in over the counter supplements, I feel as if he has served his ban, and is cooperating with testing, and we should move on from it.

Your call, but the meldonium charge was crap.

Povetkin has certainly slowed down so I see where you are coming from. Do you think Wilder bounces back from the Fury loss well? He's nearing 35 himself with no date for a ring return set. If he goes off the rails in any way shape or form especially with his skills/attributes you can stick a fork in him.

Yea, yea, you all said similar things about how Whyte will KO Povetkin, etc etc.

Then we all saw Povetkin destroyed Whyte with his legendary uppercut.

A similar thing would happen to Wilder.

Povetkin by KO at round 8.

Wilder's range and springiness would make it very difficult for Povetkin to close distance now, and with the way he was lunging with some of his shots I can easily see Wilder catching him with a slingshot counter right hand, possibly on the backfoot a la Ortiz 1. I just think this is a horrible style matchup for Povetkin, especially now that he's lost his speed and sharpness.

I'd love to see Povetkin deck that lanky fool with a perfectly timed over the top counter right hand, but realistically I don't see that happening.

I’ll still take Wilder here. Pov’s lunch resistance is gone and he isn’t avoiding that right hand. In his prime I’d probably pick him

Won't ever happen, Wilder is terrified of that uppercut.
