I agree, pre exile Ali beats Frazier and we saw what happened in the later fights. Frazier could only have beaten Ali during the beginning of his comeback.

His grill isnt. When i first saw that thing I was sure it was going to dry up the meat (especially chicken) whatever it was. Turns out works like a charm

If your a Leonard fan i can understand why Montreal wouldn't be on your short list of fun fights to watch. Duran was giving him the buisness.

Last time that I mentioned that Yank Durham did not want Joe to fight Ali, another poster who I will not name, was having a coronary, saying that was not true. But I did read that according to Yank in 1967, he said, Joe Is Too Green For Clay, We Will Wait. Frazier was rated no. 1 contender in 1967.

Gordon's grill stopped working after 2 weeks and they didn't honor the warranty.

Yes, I think that if Ali had not been indicted that the fight would not have taken place right away. I don't think Durham was champing at the bit to make the match in 1967 or even '68. As the WBA tournament proved, there were quite a few contenders relatively new to the scene who would have made good matches. Frazier probably would have been matched with a few of them before taking on Ali to gain a little more seasoning, but I'd guess the match would have to have been made late in 1968 or sometime during '69 or so. The indictment bought time for Frazier to reach his peak and also erode Ali's skills. That part of the equation was more luck from Frazier's perspective than shrewd management by Durham. I don't think we really disagree. I think it's more a matter that we are choosing to focus on different aspects of the same equation.

Leonard beat Hagler. It's true and I believe it, but it's unpopular today.

The PVV Golden Goose types, can cheat and often had the judges giving them gifts.

Boxing should go back to 15 rounds fight for title unification matches.

Some idiot banned me for starting a wellness check thread for aydamn after Whyte got laid out. A mod, not necessarily the one who banned me, also happened to be tagging him in posts and taunting him at the same time.

    - Rocky Marciano is Top 15 P4P
    - Sonny Liston is the most underrated Heavyweight ever
    - Erik Morales would have beaten Juan Manuel Marquez
    - Lennox Lewis is overrated by those who grew up in the 90s
    - Dempsey over Johnson every day of the week and twice on sundays
