Covers up well. Would rate his defence better than Wilders he’s just not anywhere near as athletic and good at evading shots/keeping his range.
He would have destroyed Mason and Bruno, Mason didn`t have any defense at all and Lewis was knocked out by McCall and Rahman in the same fashion.
Whyte was clearly out-boxing Pov until getting caught, Povetkin wwas really struggling to land all night and being caught with jabs.
Whyte has the same reach as Ali, 78 inches he had a 3 inch reach advantage, but yes that probably made a difference.
Usually a high guard from a fighter signifies a fighter has garbage defence as it's the most basic form of guard and defence. They either don't move enough or lack head movement so are forced to adopt a high guard defence because they are not adept at slipping shots via footwork or head movement. In Whyte's case he has crappy footwork and head movement, which is why he's been down a bunch of times and been rocked many more times. It makes him an entertaining fighter because he is so damn vulnerable, especially to fighters that like to throw arcing shots like hooks, overhands and uppercuts and it goes round the high gaurd, which is why Chisora also gave him so much trouble in their 2 fights.
I did not see Whyte clearly outbox anything, and even if that's your opinion I honestly thought Povetkin looked so shot I wouldn't even be impressed if he did. I've never seen povetkin look slower or more vulnerable than he did against Whyte
Povetkin lost rd 4 big, not because of the knockdowns but because he missed all his shots, look at his face in the corner at the end of that round, he looked like he wanted to quit.
