You didn’t get that promotion at work the first time? Retire. Quit. No no, Don’t learn from your mistakes and grow into being better, I mean it’s all over right? Jesus I know this is a borderline troll thread but is that how you actually live your life? Cower and quit when things go bad? Glad George Foreman didn’t think like you, World Heavyweight Champ at 45. Or Bhop or really anyone who was told to quit and didn’t.
I think Whyte did not reach the peak of his career yet. He'll be in his prime in 1-2 years, provided that he goes into same tough training camps. I see no reason to retire at all. He'll sell out arenas in England with Fury and Joshua and even another Chisora fight. He's got a good character for the boxing fans, calls for maximum violence, is aggressive, doesn't mess around etc. People love that and it's a big plus for the boxing sport. I hope to see Dillian Whyte for another 5 years in the game at least.
Whyte needs to keep fighting. I want to see him suffer some "Roy Jones Jr." type KO losses. We have seen him laid out of his back twice now. What I would like to see is a few KOs where he gets knocked down and gets up on some "baby deer" legs, trembling and staggering around, only to get splattered a few punches later. I despise trash talkers like Whyte. Humorous trash talkers like Fury are entertaining, pr1cks like Whyte are not.
I would like to see him fight on, and I hope he gets a title shot soon. I do NOT want to see him fight Povetkin again. I am tired of having to see a rematch to everything. Let's see him fight Ruiz next. If he is itching for a rematch, how about Parker, which was much more controversial.
Definitely needs to call it a day now. If you want to see him carry on then you need to take a long hard look at yourself. Why would you want to see someone get damaged?? He's more than set up for life, has 20-30mill in the bank, and clearly isn't very good.
You go in there and take some punches then from heavyweights. It is damaging, brain cells will be destroyed for life, and even blood clots can form. Get him out of the game.
Mate get lost haha. Whyte is still a clear top 7 heavyweight who has a good few years still left in him. You have no right to tell him to retire.
It will be a helluva effort to spend the tens of millions he already has. Retire. Its not a game. Another knockout could be fatal.
Haha? Not a laughing matter to me. I don't want to see him keep getting hurt. He doesn't have the technical ability to defend himself.
We seem to be thinking alike in some of these topics. What I don't get about these rematches is the fighter that wins the 2nd fight is essentially the "winner" even if he lost the first fight. Example AJ vs. Ruiz. Ruiz stopped AJ in fight #1, then comes in like a tub of lard and only losses a decision. He's 1-1 vs AJ yet why isn't there a third fight? Sure if a fighter loses both then it's hard for the losing fighter to demand a 3rd fight unless they win some big fights vs. other quality opponents. Another rematch I'm not keen on seeing is Fury-Wlider 3. Fury is at least 1-0-1 with a TKO win and many would argue is 2-0 vs. Wilder. If Whyte beats Pov in the return so what? Top contender goes 1-1 vs accomplished, but 41 year old. Ruiz-Whyte is a good fight that would show who belongs firmly in the top 5 among HWs. Parker needs to have a top fight soon too. Whyte-Parker 2 is another good matchup. Pov should try for a cash out fight asap and hang 'em up before he gets hurt. He's had an excellent career.
There's some truth to what you state. However you can say that about any fighter - HW or not. If every top fighter that took a 2nd L retired, all you'd have are up and comers with 0-1 Ls or older fighters w/padded records as opponents for the few top tier fighters. Should Parker retire? Hell no. If Whyte suffers a few more devastating KOs then, sure, he should consider packing it in. He's just 32, not 37+.
I don’t agree at all mate. One top ten guy lost to another top ten guy and he should retire? I would prefer it if more top guys fought each other instead of protecting their records.
