Is Povetkin too big and too modern for the Brown Bomber?

Joe Louis is the greatest cruiserweight ever, from a time there was no cruiserweight, if you know what I mean.
I believe all the best cruisers would have had a very good shot or are favorite to beat someone like Povetkin, who doesn't have proportions that cause big troubles for their opponents.

I favor Louis by competitive decision.

He might, but prime Povetkin was hard to stop, so I doubt Louis would as he was used to fight (and spark) sub 200lbs guys, with some big lumbering oafs inbetween. A skilled and powerful 225-230lbs Povetkin would be a danger for him and he wouldn't get in a firefight as his chin might not hold up.

I believe this would be a very competitive fight.
I think both Louis and Povetkin would go down in the middle rounds and Povetkin would go down again late in the fight, but get up and survive to see the final bell.
I think Louis would win by Unanimous decision.

In a rematch I think Louis stops him in the 7th round

Povetkin would beat Louis in a phonebooth fight, with both fighters throwing crisp hooks and uppercuts on the inside.

Louis would do well but his chin would let him down. He simply couldn't take the sort of shots Povetkin would hit him with.

Peak Povetkin would give most old timers serious h2h trouble, probably more than they can handle. The Povetkin from the Whyte fight I'd go with Louis.

I would say only a prime Louis would beat Povetkin and then it most defintely would not be a certainty, Povetkin being bigger guy and has a excellent set of boxing skills.

Now if this fight was in the Louis era then the issue of PEDs or indeed lack of them might be a negative factor for one of these fighters
