If you get knocked out in only 5 rounds isn't it really a moot point how good your defense was up to that point? I'm not being an *******, this is a serious question. This was not some sort of virtuoso defensive display for 11 1/2 rounds ala "Sergio vs. Chavez Jr." where Whyte looked untouchable. He was literally figured out and destroyed in 5. His defense was ultimately 0/10
haha Haha Whyte !! Are we talking about the same bloke? Would be lucky to see the 5th round!.totally outclassed.
He clearly got overconfident and thought he can put on a display, which to be fair he was actually doing successfully. Then that counter came and it was good night. This is the Heavyweight division, things like that are to be expected.
No, it's really not... It's more to do with being quite dumb to stand there with a fighter leaning forward gifting your chin to an inside fighter like povetkin is the dumbest thing he could have done in there. "It's the heavyweight division, it's to be expected" Nope, It's just poor ring IQ , maaaan.
Mason didn`t have much defensive skill and was never hit with a shot like the punch Povetkin hit Whyte with, Mason was offered, Mason was offered a bout v Foreman in 1994 but turned it down and retired.
