Huck won and controlled the tempo throughout the majority of the fight but the decision went to Povetkin who was setting up a mega fight with Wlad in 2013, you and I both know it. Tony Galento from 37-39 was a legitimate HW contender who beat ranked heavyweights when he earned his title shot with Joe Louis. Galento had an awkward style, one of the dirtiest fighters in HW boxing history, had a cast iron chin and dynamic power. Galento would knock out a glass jawed clown like David Price who knocked Povetkin down and almost had him out.
The only reason Joe Louis even fought Braddock was due to political reasons, not even sure why you're bringing it up. There was only 1 belt back then, Braddock was the Cinderella Man, stalled and milked the title for 2 years not fighting anyone until he literally sold the title to Joe Louis. Ended up still paying Braddock years later and took a large portion of Joe's earnings.

All of this is irrelevant though. Joe Louis beats Povetkin, I don't see how it'll be close.

I had Huck winning and Povetkin refused to give him the rematch. There were trying to set the Wlad fight. Politics.

Please, and who are these lesser fighters? Max Schemling is an ATG HW and got knocked out, Billy Conn is an ATG LHW and got knocked out, Jersey Joe Walcott is an ATG HW and got knocked out, and he met Charles in his absolute prime when Joe had already declined who is one of the finest boxers the world has ever seen. Then there's Rocky Marciano.

First of all, Schmeling and Walcott are not ATGs, and Charles' prime was at LHW.

Second, Louis had trouble with Arturo Godoy, Buddy Baer, Jimmy Braddock and Tony Galento.

Huck lost. Period. And you and I both know it. Great fight, though.

Galento was 5'8", obese, and could not be an athlete in any professional sport today. We are talking about a head to head between Povetkin and Louis, not what a fighter did in his era. I get he was good fighter IN HIS ERA...that is exactly the point. Galento would not beat any fighter in the top 50 heavyweights today, and the fact that Louis had a brawl against him is telling.

I am bringing up Braddock because he was an LHW with a chronically injured right hand WHO KNOCKED LOUIS DOWN. I am sorry, but even the simplest of souls can understand that. Braddock did pretty good against Louis, and again, could not beat any top 50 heavy today.

If you don't see how its close, then you lack understanding. That is not my problem. I can explain it to you, I can't understand it for you.

Povetkin was definitely not in his prime with Huck. At least in physical shape. I think he was at absolutely best after he changed trainers after his lost to Klitschko. His body, cardio, speed, power, output changed dramatically with that change.

Galento, Buddy Baer and Braddock for starters. And I don't care how much of an ATG you think he was Conn was still a LHW (probably a SMW by today's standards) who nearly knocked Louis out and would have gone to points with him if they had fought twelve rounds. And you want to criticise Povetkin for having a close fight with a 210lbs CW champion in his prime. Which he won.

Pick Louis if you like, but don't pretend like it wouldn't be a close fight.

My negative opinion on the likelihood of any of the modern heavyweights beating Joe Louis coupled with my unabashed Sasha crush notwithstanding...really? I mean, really?

Joe Louis wins this with MAYBE a few scares from Povetkin's power.
