Sorry to use the word hate but I'm talking about figures the boxing world couldn't stand. We've seen so many unique characters in the sport, incl. those who were responsible for plenty of controversy. Those with a bad rap, which may show in their nickname too.
The only boxer I've ever really strongly disliked is Amir Khan. He's just always seemed so entitled. I got so sick of all the Khan headlines between 2013-2015 of him talking about the high-profile fights he wanted. He hadn't done anything to earn a fight against Mayweather or Pacquiao, but he talked himself up so much and built his name from all of the publicity he was getting rather than from actually performing in the ring. I'll never forget when he backed out of the initial fight he had scheduled with Devon Alexander because he thought he might get the Mayweather fight, which would've been MONTHS down the road anyways, instead of just continuing through with the Alexander fight. Looking back at his career now, his best win was against Maidana (before Maidana started training with Robert Garcia) and he barely escaped with that win. Aside from that, he lost all of his biggest fights and suffered a 1st-round KO to a mediocre Breidis Prescott. Khan has also refused to fight Brook his entire career (not that there'd be much interest in that fight anymore) because Khan is so delusional that he thought he was on some completely different tier than Brook. Khan always brushed off Brook as "not deserving" or "not a big enough fight" even after Brook beat Porter and won the title. Khan kept thinking he was next in line for a high-profile fight even though he never actually did anything to earn it. There have been some other popular fighters I didn't really care for, but Khan's the only one I've truly disliked. I just grew so tired of seeing and hearing his name because he didn't deserve the press/publicity he was getting, and it's painful to read and listen to his delusional thoughts about himself.
Before he won the title, and after ,the whole country hated Sonny Liston. What was written about him was horrible.
Holmes was one of the biggest idiots in boxing history, a poor guy that always will be nothing more than the guy who had a title between the eras of Ali and Tyson
Holmes is a top ten all time heavyweight and can justifiably be placed as high as 5. Holmes is an idiot? Well he still has his $$$$$$, unlike Holyfield and Tyson, so maybe he's a little smarter than you give him credit for?
Mcvey . when i say idiot YOU KNOW perfectly that what i meant had nothing to do with the intelligence but his personality.
