Agreeing with a post that Puts Povetkin a Fighter that went the distance with Both Hughie Fury and Christian Hammer against one of the all Time Great Heavyweights of all time should be enough for anyone to realise what a stupid comparison to make and any True Boxing Fan would see it as an absolute Joke.....Get off your Dad's Computer Son.!!!

I never have been able to figure out if Braddock got 10% of Joe Louis' purse, Louis' manager's earnings, or his promoter's. If I remember right, in Louis' autobiography, it has been 11 years since I read it, he states it wasn't his purse.

Povetkin. Too new diets, too new training methods. Just too modern and advanced for pre-historic Joe Louis. How's Joe Louis gonna win? There wasn't even Twitter back then.

It was 10% of Joe’s gross earnings for 10 years, which is why Braddock didn’t seem that disappointed about losing, since basically negotiated a retirement plan for himself.

Povetkin probably would have trouble with Buddy Baer and Max Baer. I would not be surprised if Max did Povetkin like he did Carnera.

What's wrong with making a thread pitting Povetkin against Louis? Doesn't he meet up to the high expectations of past Louis opponents like Arturo Godoy or something?

We have people like Galento today who are ranked.
There's 4 guys who are ranked top 10 by the WBA, that are genuinely obese, 2 natural CWs, 3 old and shot has beens and 2 overhyped never was'.

Honestly the HW division today is trash, and Joe Louis would probably beat all but Fury and maybe Aj.

Kownacki is 6'3 and throws 70 punches a round. Galento would not last a single round with him.

Povetkin just KO’d war torn plodder Whyte in a life and death 5 round fight and suddenly he beats prime Louis, Ali etc in mythical match ups. Some people really fail to comprehend the levels to this sport.

I'd probably give him more than a round, that's not the question though, the question is whether Povetkin could beat Joe Louis.

I was just pointing out that we have plenty of ranked unathletic part timers in todays era.

But not 5'8" guys who have no skill. Again, Kownacki may look "unathletic," but he throws 70 punches a round. Stamina is "athletic." and he's 6'3".

By the way, I never said, not once, that Povetkin would beat Joe Louis, only that given Louis' track record of hitting the deck against guys who would not even make good cruisers today, the idea has to be entertained.

You can't write him off because he's short and fat though, the skill thing fair enough, but even if you're short and fat, you can still be whipped into fighting shape at HW with the right training, see Andy Ruiz.
Maybe with a good camp and modern training Tony Galento could be a contender today, I know it sounds crazy, but he's definitely got the intangibles idk.

I agree with you that you couldn't write off Povetkin completely, he would definitely be in Joe Louis top 5 opponents at least for me, and there's a good chance that he does put him on the canvas, but I think even if he did, Joe Louis would still win a clear decision/late KO.
