Huck was what 209 and smacked Povetkin around the ring

Chambers was 208 or so and had Povetkins eye all ****ed up and had it close for about 6 rounds until Povetkin overpowered him

I think Povetkin as a smaller heavyweight in the era of huge heavyweights has a speed and explosiveness advantage that he doesnt enjoy vs smaller heavyweights who can match it. If I remember correctly he had a pretty tough fight with Chris Byrd leading up to Chambers

It would not surprise me if Louis could put some hard right hands on Povetkin and do some damage. I think a lot of Louis's best attributes line up well with Povetkin's weaknesses. I think this is a tough pick

Yes you can. At 5'8, if the guy were in shape, he would be a diminutive cruiser.

Joe Louis would've been a cruiserweight today too, so it's a bit of a moot point.

Uh yes, yet another reason to say that it is ridiculous to think Povetkin would have had no chance against him.

But really, the point is that he went life and death with a guy who would have been a poor cruiser, if in shape.

Man I don't even know what the point was anymore, but you're making too much of the Galento fight, because he beat better men easier.

I like Povetkin but Joe Louis brutalizes him.

Galento wasn't just fat, he has almost zero skill as well. Kownacki is little more than a Polish Arreola clone, but he at least understands the rudiments of boxing, how and when to jab, how to string punches together and maintain distance so as not to smother his own shots.

Look at Galento here, zero balance, zero leverage to his uppercuts, can't even throw a one two properly. This is in training, when he should be under no pressure to maintain his form, if he had any.

Plus he was five eight. Short, clueless and fat. Not much to work with there.

Why? Because it has two natural CWs? Louis's era must have been complete garbage then, by that rationale.

And at least one of those CWs whitewashes Louis.

Ruiz is six feet (six two if you believe him) and has world class boxing skill and handspeed. What does Galento have to offset his lack of height or athleticism or, you know, actual boxing skill? Moxy? A mean look?

His only intangibles were that he was so utterly clueless that no one could accurately predict what he was going to do. Frankly I don't see him doing any better than someone like Akhror Muralimov.

Jesus, it’s a hard fight for Louis, your as bad as Olu who thinks it’s disrespectful to match up Ali v Usyk.. Rose tinted mate, that uppercut took out a man much much stronger than Louis, it does the same to Louis if it lands, his one flaw was his whiskers, not bad but that’s his weakness. POV imo could spark Louis
