The boxing team at sky sports are so creepy

The whole setup comes across as very unprofessional because it is.

Smith is simply a terrible and very amateurish commentator well as clearly enjoying being in the changing rooms a bit too much, Froch is just a miserable git, Bellew is just full on nonsense . I quite like Johnny to be honest though.


Get rid of Smith, Froch and Bellend
Keep Johnny, get in Barry Jones , Paulie and Ian Darke as main commentators. Maybe also Richie Woodhall.

Then Eddie's ppv's will be a bit easier to stomach.

 

It’s just rubbish. The bias is a joke, it’s the equivalent of watching a Man United match on MUTV or whatever. A toss up between Bellew and Macklin for currently being the worst of the lot

 

It’s Bellew for me. He over plays the super earnest salt of the earth Scouser thing far too much. I also can’t stand how he pretends he’s little fake mates with all the fighters.

To be fair to the team, when Whyte faced Rivas they compared him with Mike Tyson, so not all biased!

Smith suddenly dropping the camp voice...puts on his sky voice and growls " is that my massaaaaarge"..(he elongates massage the same way he elongates every fighter name on commentary with that facile mockney...eg chisora becomes chisoooooraaaa)...(the door opens and in walks a young concierge male) " No im your personal assistant Tristram"......."yes of course you are " smiles Smith eyeing him up n" down.

I saw all this fiction above in a dream....than i woke up.

But it changes nothing......Smith is British boxings Dana White despite being an awful and unneccesary commentator.

Respect where its due...he fought his way to the top off the streets of north london...its not easy for someone trained in the theatre and working your way up from menial ring roving reporter in a sport you know little about up to head honcho and bringing in good ppv numbers and bringing in even larger casual "event," fans to the sport

Ed Robinson was exiled by strongman smith.

Ive been a critic we all have but the facts are Smith has sold whyte as this generations sonny liston and the casual fans lap it up in huge numbers and are always left gagging for more (eg a povetkin rematch)

With Robinson in 2014...went the last link to a trained journalist.


Its a shame. Ed was a former boxer a former PA at panix and fw... a trained articulate journalist who served his dues writing and travelling around the country. A first rate fellow.He is capable of asking the hard questions and takes the time to listen to the fans. I think Robinson going ushered in the macklins,smiths,bellews,frochs ...company men selling a product.

So Sky boxing prospers even as the sport itself is dying.

Look how narrow and tiny the topics of debate have become on here....every 2nd topic is aj/whyte/fury/wilder related.....the other is canelo....
