Tyson Fury vs Wilder OFF

I wish it was true. We don’t really need a 3rd fight. There’s no doubt Fury is the superior boxer. Wilder just has a punchers chance.

 

God how I wish it were true. There is no reason for the third fight. I would not only rather see Joshua or Povetkin instead, I would rather see Fury fight Kabeyal or Huck. Anybody with a decent record and a pulse.

 

I still think he's the most dangerous fight. He has more endurance and heart than AJ, more single punch power too, probably faster hands. I don't think AJ's better fundamentals override all this.

 

The single punch power can be questioned. I don’t think Wilder has knocked out anyone who Joshua wouldn’t have. Wilder’s record is pure dross so the claims he’s such a hard hitter have started to become questioned by me.

 

Fury Wilder 3 is still 2nd or 3rd best match up in division imo. Certainly better than Fury v Povetkin, who is shot to pieces. Fury would be like a knife through butter with him. Be shocked if it went beyond 2 rounds.

 

Heard that both men have $15m guarantees in the contract which Top rank were not confident being able to cover with crowds due to the outcome of the last fight.

only way of getting the fight done is to get a big site fee. However as the hype is minimal for the fight most big players like Saudi and Macau etc aren’t happy to front the $40m required.

Particularly as Saudi for instance put these fights on through the tourism authority which will not be happy to sign off as they will not benefit from the outlay.

 

Literally the only thing you said that was correct was the single punch power, and even that is debatable
Endurance -Wilder doesn't have the tank to go the distance. The two times he went the distance were because he couldn't knock his opponent out, which he banks on. When Fury knocked him down in the third round of their second fight, this basically sapped all his energy and he was a sitting duck from thereon

Heart - Yeah, I suppose he should be given credit for not quitting on his stool or for getting back up and continuing to fight after that second Fury knockdown. But he mentally checked out of the fight. He knew he was getting beat and didn't meaningfully try to fight back or even defend himself against Fury. In addition, this is a five year reigning champion with more than forty fights under his belt and the best opponent he's ever fought was Fury, who his team convinced him was finished and would be an easy win. How much heart can Wilder be said to have when he runs from guys like Klitschko or Joshua, or even guys he could beat like Povetkin or Whyte?

Faster hands - Never seen evidence of this because he's a one punch man who rarely throws combinations

AJ's fundamentals - Most definitely make for a better fight. AJ would hit Fury to the body, like headhunter Wilder failed to do in their first fight. It's a big body and an easy target. AJ wouldn't let himself get smothered by Fury like Wilder did in their second fight. He knows how to fight backwards, he'd use his range and jab effectively to keep Fury off him.

A fight with Joshua would be much more even and competitive than another fight with Wilder, where the second fight already answered all the questions.

 

Wilder should re build , pointless to go straight back in unless it’s a final cash out?

 

I really don't see what other option he would have, other than to retire, if he gets destroyed by Fury again. Even a Joshua fight wouldn't be anywhere near as lucrative as it would have been in, say, 2018 because Wilder would be yesterday's news.

 

He has knocked out everybody he has faced apart from fury???!!!

We can all agree he isn't the greatest boxer but it's due to his freak power that he got anywhere near a world title let alone defend it 10 times.

 

Didn't knock out Arreola, didn't knock out Stiverne the first time. Various other opponents who quit on their stools rather than get knocked out

This is missing the point that most of those guys (I'd argue all of those guys except maybe Ortiz) are bums. They didn't want to get up. Wilder doesn't know what to do with an opponent who doesn't want to quit, who fights until he can't fight any more. We saw that with the first Fury fight

 

I think Wilder is extremely dangerous, and he has bags of heart. Look at the beating he took in that first Ortiz fight, he was smashed to bits, out on his feet. He kept going and got the knockout.
His stock has fallen massively since Fury schooled him, and I believe this takes some credit away from his win. Fury had the size, reach and skill to bully and box Wilder’s head off & stop him landing that KO shot...which he was fractions of a second/inch from doing so cos he clobbered Fury a few times. Fury managed to ride the shots, I’m not convinced many others could.

 

Wilder has the skill level of an amateur plus his stamina and chin are suspect but there are people seriously questioning his power and hand speed ?? The guy has a right hand like a sledgehammer and he has real speed and snap with it as well. One bad loss and he's labelled a fraud whose power was always overrated, predictable really.
