His honesty. The idea that he was, as you said

"a poor guy that always will be nothing more than the guy who had a title between the eras of Ali and Tyson," is frankly ridiculous.Like him or not, he was a great fighter and an all time top ten heavyweight.

The most hated boxer on this Forum is Jack Johnson, Mendoza crucifies him at the slightest opportunity, introducing his name into threads for which he has not the slightest relevance.

I think because the British boxing fans were acting he was the next Lennox Lewis. That he would dominate the Klitschkos and rule boxing.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it.I believe he was a great fighter and I am entitled to that opinion.

FYI In Rumsfeld's excellent heavyweight survey on this Forum ,Tyson came 9th ,Holmes no3, only behind Louis and Ali,so it would seem you are in the minority with your opinion.

You could add Ruben Guerrero but he dogged Angel out so he rises significantly in my estimation.

Judging by the posts on this site and even on youtube, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the most hated boxer of all time, by a country mile.

Holmes 38 years old being stopped by a man 16 years younger, having not fought for 2 years is supposed to mean something?
Want to look at a 38years old Tyson being kod by journeyman Danny Williams?

Haha i was waiting For this type of answer. Holmes at 38 was miles in better shape than Tyson at 38. And Holmes post Tyson fought tons of fights being competitive against a prime Holyfield and beating guys like Mercer, Tyson was finished at that Time.

TYSON DESTROYS EVERY VERSION OF LARRY HOLMES,IT WAS NOT MATTER OF AGE, WAS A STYLISTICAL THING, TYSON HAD HIS NUMBER AND TO ME TYSON IN HIS PRIME WAS MUCH BETTER THAN LARRY HOLMES AND MUCH MORE DOMINANT CHAMPION, TYSON DESTROYED TOP GUYS AND HOLMES FOUGHT REAL WARS AND NEVER GAVE A REMATCH TO HWS WHO GAVE HIM HARD FIGHTS.

As I said you are entitled to your opinion.Holmes had been retired for 2 years his later sucess was because he was once again an active boxer.
You might want to ponder the fact the he went the 12 rds distance with Holyfield when he was 42 but Tyson couldnt manage it in two tries despite being considerably younger and active !
But you believe what you want, it isnt going to have any impact on my day.

People are ranked on what they do in their own eras and Holmes did more in his than Tyson did in his.

Part of dominance is beating the best of your era and Tyson never beat Holyfield or Lewis
He also has multiple prime losses while Holmes never lost in his prime.

He also didnt beat the most formidable contender of his title reign Evander Holyfield
