Hbo created hype job who was handed the belt. When you dont earn the belt it always backfires.

I agree with most of what you said but Taylor-Spinks was NOT a robbery at all.

He was a Glass Jawed fighter that had some very good wins but sadly has CTE now. I enjoyed watching Taylor come up through the ranks on ESPN and HBO back in the day.

Not only was he glass jawed, but he was the beneficiary of several GIFT DECISIONS most notably twice against Hopkins. HBO basically used their influence to push this guy and he got the nods several times when he shouldn't have.

Overrated (by some) and glass jawed, that's the bottom line on Jermaine "Gift Decisions" Taylor

Tell me the 7 rounds you scored for a Hopkins in those fights...then we can talk. No way Hopkins won either of those fights on a 10 point must scoring system.

I think this is true. I think JT was damaged goods after a certain point. Some fighters can take the punishment better than others. JT was one of those fighters who simply couldn't take the accumulative punishment. I actually liked the guy but apparently he has gone off the rails.

So because he came on late, he should win? I was NOT a Taylor fan, had him winning both fights. Hopkins was too lazy in the ring both fights.

taylor was a terrific boxer - world class.
he also had a troubling flaw which didn't rear his head until he faced some punchers in the SMW tournament (froch, abraham).

i mean, he was the man who beat the man. can't take that away from him.
guys like calzaghe had years to try their hand, but never had the stones.
