What do you mean by better? He was more powerful (although right hand from Max is not a joke) but he's not as good at setting up his punches. Schmeling was also much better counter puncher and I don't think it's arguable. I think that you overstate the Marciano improvement. He became a bit better defensively, but other than that I just don't see any huge difference. Meanwhile Joe wasn't half of the fighter he was at his peak. Which pressure fighter had him in trouble? Forever clinching Godoy? That's not Marciano style. Who else?
Louis was down and seriously hurt even by a short slow porky like galento i can't see why Marciano could not finish him.
Was he hurt? He came in overconfident and got caught, but he got up in split second and dominated Galento for the rest of the round. I don't see Louis visibly hurt in that fight. Besides, he stopped Galento within 4 rounds. This doesn't give Marciano good credentials.
I don't think he was seriously hurt .Louis could be knocked down but usually regained his composure pretty quickly. Marciano said he blacked out when Moore dropped him and when he got up he began to walk towrds the ropes expecting a compulsory count, which was waived in title fights then. You could equally say, if a near 40 Moore could drop Rocky, Louis could do so and keep him down.
Yes he was,his chin was mediocre. This one is the best credential that rocky needs here. This content is protected you seem to forget who needs to be defended in this fantasy match
To be honest Marciano did not look hurt at all against Moore. Louis was hurt several times in his career and knocked out in his prime. It is not even a debate who was more durable here
He actualy said ,"I didnt like to be crowded",who manged to beat him with that style before Marciano for which fight he was past it?
Louis ripped Godoy to bits in the rematch flooring him 3 times! Louis damaged his right hand against Farr a tough cagey boxer ,nothing like Rocky.
But he would be ten years younger. And he wouldnt be waiting for Marciano to come forward crowding him, he would be going forward behind his jab, looking to take Rocky out.Louis did alright in the first 3 rds with Marciano ,then his legs began to give out,and he was fighting virtually one handed ,relying on his jab and occasional left hook.
He got up in split second, he wasn't hurt at all. He looked angry if anything. Seriously? If you think that Louis from Marciano fight and prime Louis are even comparable, then you know nothing about boxing.
