Worse 6 defenses and a title won in a row, is there any worse than Wilder?

Just come out already, you are full of disparaging remarks towards accomplished white heavies. You were banned for starting a racists thread, and give your money to groups know to abuse human rights. That's who you are. If you want to debate weak title defenses, this is a thread to do it. Jeffries fought the best competition in his times, for the most part.

As champion in his first year he defeated Fitzsimmons, Sharkey and Corbett, who were viewed as the top thee opponents of the times, and gave re-matches to two of them.

    Now be gone.

First off, it’s a silly topic: you have to make six defenses, right?

I mean, who were Mike Weaver’s first six defenses? Tony Tubbs? Ken Norton never even won a title fight. Etc.

So you’re talking a pretty small club to begin with. Very few fighters who weren’t at the very top of their eras ever made six defenses ... even in the early years of the WBO when they were handing out title shots like candy to whoever would send them a few bucks.

Second, you don’t control who has the belt when you win it off of them — so counting that against someone is silly. If Ernesto Espana is the champ you beat, does that make your title run lesser because he happened to be recognized by the WBA?

Ezzard Charles is iffy — won the title off Joe Walcott (nice name but he had lost his two previous fights), Gus Lesnevich (the NYSAC wouldn’t even recognize this as a title bout), Pat Valentino (who?), Freddie Beshore (lost two in a row previous to challenging), Joe Louis (nice, but well past prime), Nick Barone and Lee Oma.

    Nothing to brag about there.

And don’t get me started on Floyd Patterson: won it off Archie Moore (a past-prime light heavyweight), Tommy Jackson, Pete Rademacher, Roy Harris, Brian London and lost to Ingo (who would be an historic nobody had he not bounced Floyd off the canvas like a basketball).

I argue that any collection of title defenses that include a pro debut opponent (Rademacher) is by definition the worst six-pack in history. A complete disgrace.

These packs are better than Wilder's though.

Never been banned for making a racist thread.
I contributed to the ANC when Nelson Mandela was it's President and I am proud to have done so.

Let's stay on topic, that's if you can leave Jack Johnson alone for 5 minutes .LOL

Wilder never fought a guy with no professional fights. Nor anyone on par with McNeeley.

That makes Floyd the holder of possibly the worst two title defenses ever.

    Let’s make this even better:

Which champion with 20 successful defenses has the worst collection?

Burns won the title off Hart. Good win.
Took 2 easy fights - Poor wins.
Fought Jim Flynn, who had a good winning streak at the time, was highly rated, and would go on to challenge for the world title and even beat to all time greats in Jack Dempsey and Sam Langford. Decent win.
Fought Jack O Brien twice- Good fighter who was a title claimant and eqivalent of a modern unification fight. Good Wins

It is more than 6 fights, but his next fights included squires who was a young fighter with a good wins streak (even if not much in hindsight). Still a decent fight by todays standards. His other fighters were pretty much area champions and the equivalent of modern belt holders or interim belt holders, or at worst continental belt holders. Jack Johnson of course was an all time great and the most dangerous fighter available.

Burns can be criticised for a lot of things, but his championship reign isnt one of them. Imagine if all fighters had the same record.

Everyone Charles defended against was a top 10 opponent, most were top 5.

Patterson also defended against ranked opposition aside from Rademacher.

Everyone Wilder defended against was ranked by the WBC.

One of Charles’ defenses was against an opponent the state athletic commission looked at and said, ‘Nah, no way we’re letting your all this a championship fight on our turf.’ Doesn’t sound like a ranked contender to me.

And ‘besides the guy WHO HAD NOT EVEN HAD A PROFESSIONAL FIGHT’ is a pretty glaring ‘other than,’ lol.

Hard to think of a softer run than Wilder’s yet his fanboys would claim he’s got a great resume and he’s an all-time great. That’s why I stay out of modern boxing scene discussions for the most part.
