As a young fan, I remember fights where if you got cut, punch or no punch you still had to fight until the doc or ref made a decision but there was a turning point fight sometime ago where this changed. I can't recall which one but before that you were just dead unlucky and lost, simple as that.

Guys, this needs repeating, because it really says it all. ANDRE WARD thinks Herring pulled a ***** move. There's no debate to be had here. It was a ***** move.

It all sounds very reminiscent of that Marquez fight that Cole refereed!

Ward appreciates a good headbutt when he sees one.

As CST80 posted above at no point ever is the decision down to the fighter unless they are quitting, it has literally crept in.
Ok so let’s say the cut was caused by a head butt which it probably was I didn’t see the actual clash that caused it, so at that point he was up on points, and by the letter of the law if he can’t continue then he gets the dq, I can handle that.
But not being able to continue should be a doctors call and it should be protested by the fighter all the way he should be wiping blood from his cut with his gloves during the round and rushing to the corner to get vasyed up.
At no point ever in any sport should a competitor be asked or make the decision that brings the competition to an end in his favour.
I can’t believe what I have just seen

That’s not up for debate in my book, that’s clear as day. It’s the fact he was able to pull that move.
Imagine your a builder and you have a job on to build an extension for say 30k your half way through the job and then you have a problem with the building regulator or something so the home owner comes to you and says what do you want to do, can you be bothered you have already been paid but if you don’t want to finish the job that’s fine.

Yep there’s a reason he dropped down to 130 and that was solely to have a significant size advantage against guys who were more skilled..

Knowing the result, should I actually slog through eight rounds of this? Guessing no.
