In the past fifty years has there ever been a fighter to score such decisive, high profile wins against top level competition competition as Azumah Nelson did by crushing Gomez in San Juan and Fenech in Melbourne ? He fought and defeated both in their backyards .. tremendous achievements that cannot be overlooked. This content is protected This content is protected Nelson is a seriously under appreciated all time great fighter.
Silenced a good few British fans when he came over here and knocked ten bells out of Cowdell and McDonnell, too. Another two good wins on the road in which he virtually didn't have a fan in the house. Oddly enough, in today's crop Fury is at least comparable under these criteria. His win against Wladimir didn't have the same conclusive ending as Zoomy's over Gomez, nor was it a brutal one-sided shellacking like Nelson against Fenech, but he was still on the road, in Wlad's back yard (for all intents and purposes), a clear underdog and taking on a guy unbeaten in 11 years and 19 consecutive world title fights. His win over Wilder, of course, is even more on the money, as it was an asbolute beatdown ala Nelson-Fenech II. Another long title reign ended impressively by Fury on away soil.
Well just EVERY time a. Citizen of a foreign country comes and beat one from the USA. Schmeling Cerdan Lewis Durann Arguello , etc. Canto Flores over Gushiken. Sanchez over Lopez Duran over Leonard ARGUELLO over Olivares Olivares over Chacon ARGUELLO over Escalera Etc etc all really terrific fighters Pedroza Cuevas Galindez Monzon Mamby Napoles Really all but US fighters afraid to leave home, culminating in agoraphobic Mayweather who fought only in his adopted hometown his entire career. But non one ever mentions Gaywaether and Hearns and Leonard and Hagler and Holmes etc never going to another guys country to fight. Pussys
You know you started with an interesting point and instead of fleshing it out you went South .. too bad.
