Granted, Lopez's latest performance against Commey is unmistakably worthy of the world's elite but despite that, I wonder if it's not a bit too early for him.

Another fight against a boxer from the top 15 Boxrec to improve himself would not have been refused before the Lomachenko march. I think Lopez has huge potential but still too little exploited to make such a big fight. I had a similar impression in 2013 with Mayweather vs Canelo.

Great fighters have to take risks. Its the best possible fight he could make and a win skyrockets him to new heights, a loss and he still has his whole career ahead of him if he has the right mindset.

Nope. This is what boxing is about. All of these massive amateur records and late starts are new age bs. If you believe you are one of the best fighters in the world get out their and prove it now

It's possible. All the talent doesn't help when you don't have the knowledge or experience to make adjustments against a superior boxer.
This is what has ruined young fighters before, who looked great fast, ran in to a road bump in the form of a experienced vet.

I respect Lopez for taking the fight now and not in 2-3 years... Gervonta should take notes.

It’s a no lose situation for Lopez.

On the one hand if he loses, nobody really expected him to win due to Loma just being that technically skilled. He gets respect for facing the best before they are too old and still has his entire career ahead of him. Similar to when a greener Canelo faced Mayweather jr. That loss didn’t stop Canelo’s career.

However, if he wins, he becomes the man who stopped the Lomachenko express.

Teofemale gets a ton of credit for begging for the Lomachenko fight. He knows that he will have a significant size advantage and he believes in his power.

    Can't knock him.

ha the guy already has 2 titles at lightweight. Loma has the other two.

Once you become world champ there is no excuse of "being too green" for another champion.
