If you make a financial deal you’ve got to stick to it, or release said person from their contract. Even then, they have the right to compensation.

    This.
But Canelo is in the right here. They had a contract and now are trying to break it. From what it seems like.

    Quawi.
Dude, Manny went from 122 to 147 with ease.
Chavez Jr. Was a middleweight who as a teen weighed as low as 140, now he can't even make 168.

Oh, and DAZN doesn't want to pay Canelo his guarantee.

This is far more complicated than it would appear at first glance.

Breach of contract maybe but extenuating circumstances beyond the control of either party will no doubt be written into the legal.

It also highlights the dazn business model which, along with companies like wework, will be analysed on how not to do things. Like wework, the only thing that their business model was exposed too was a massive economic downturn and that's what we have. Dazn gambled on pricing everybody out of the market and being the last one standing.

It also points towards the ggg trilogy. I would be amazed that it was just "hinted" at and not written in stone.

As a casual observer i also find it an interesting insight into Canelo's mind. Maybe he is so egotistical to think his position today has been created purely by his boxing and nothing has been done in the background to lubricate it. I also find it interesting that ryan garcia, who is in bed with canelo, also takes every opportunity to bash golden boy.

I dont care about the drugs, every pro athlete is doping.

I once met one of my heroes and was disappointed. I was young and naive so now just enjoy watching their craft. I do feel, though, that I wouldnt like canelo as a person.

Dazn is like one of those closed stores on a dodgy strip in a dodgy part of town that is so obviously a front for money laundering, drug dealing or something else because it’s not functioning as a business like all the other shops on the high street.

They were giving out $360 million for Rocky Fielding and Danny Jacobs fights and don’t seem to have spent **** on production value, marketing or brand awareness. Come on man, literal amateurs have done a better job getting views and subscribers on YouTube than this multi billion dollar company. Something ain’t adding up.

Hopefully De La Hoya finally fed up and had it enough with him and strike back with all of his might.

Canelo seems continuously give people reasons after reasons to hate him. I'd love to see this arrogant priçk lost his legal battle.

Same as when Haymon was paying Welshmen 750k to fight Mexicans in front on no fans on a Tuesday night in Texas.

Boxing promotional companies/broadcasters do some really weird things that make no sense business wise.

    Fight Artur Beterbiev.

I'd gladly pay $500 to watch that fight and watch the whole Canelo charade come to one violent, bloody and brutal end.

It's the fight we all want to see.

The thing is, Canelo wants to be a total diva; he wants to pick all the fights on his own terms and have everything in his favour. Golden Boy have assisted in this greatly and now he's turning around and trying to sue them for "failing" to find him a fight for September 2020. He wanted to fight a complete bum and DAZN said no.

Furthermore, the issue is that DAZN are losing money with Canelo and Canelo is losing credibility. We're now fully aware of all the weight draining and other shenanigans that Canelo/GBP have been up to lately and unless he fights someone major DAZN won't commit to him. He is losing them MONEY.

Canelo can't speak English, he has no cross-over appeal outside of Latin and North America, there's a global pandemic going on, money is tight and Canelo still wants to fight over-the-hill weight drained fighters for $35,000,000 per FIGHT? GTFO. DAZN won't be getting that much NEW subscribers to cover Canelo's purse. Most people just cancel after a month or two. So they're also reviewing their business model also and realising that the only way to make good on the entire deal with Canelo is by having him fight prime fighters at the very least.

Canelo needs to restore credibility. FAST.

He's just mugging people off like David Haye used to do and rinsing the public.

Oh by the way, Artur Beterbiev kills him. I guess it's one way for DAZN to break their contract with Canelo....

They only back him because Vegas is the perfect place for cartels to launder their drug money. Now, with a pandemic, who is going to go to a casino or fill an arena? Canelo is out of favours.

DAZN is owned by venture capitalists. That contract will have clauses, non-competes, certain guarantees and get-out clauses that allows one/either party to terminate the contract if certain criteria are not met.

They're not trying to break the contract.

They want him to fight better opposition to recoup losses.

Fighting Rocky Fielding or weight draining an already shot Kovalev turns people away from the Canelo hype job.

They wanted him to fight GGG, something that Canelo is determined not to do unless GGG is 40 years old and beyond shot. Remember this guy wanted to fight Yildrim and expected to be paid $35,000,000 for it. Do you think DAZN would have gotten $35m worth of subscribers for that fight? Hells no. DAZN would have been at a major loss.

Not even Turkish people would have paid to watch that fight.

They will for the right fight. they have been offered Johnson, Quigley, Ballard, Ryder, Lemiuex and Yildrim for $35m. DAZN want BJS or Smith for that money. If its one of the fighters of the level offered they want to pay a purse of $15m citing force majeure which is completely fair and in any contract and Canelo to sign to fight GGG on Cinco De Mayo which GBP will not do. Let face it no other provider will pay Canelo $15m to fight Jason Quigley in the current climate.

If it ever goes to court DAZN will wipe the floor with GBP/Canelo.

Well, right now it seems like DAZN doesn't want to pay Canelo his guarantee regardless of whom he fights.

And we don't know the exact details.

Lol, what happened to Canelos talk on the importance of loyalty to trainers and promoters? Or does it only apply to situations where it favors him only?
