Wilder hits harder. But it's clear he's not the most accurate puncher out there. But what do you mean by "pure puncher" ? Fury will win.
Joe Louis was great for his era and he deserves credit for that, but if he got sent through the ring ropes with a single left hook by a lumbering oaf like Baer, I can safely say that he stands no chance whatsoever against skilled SHWs like the Klitschkos, Lewis, Fury etc.
Exactly, I like how some people on here claim there’s no nostalgia but then come up with the most bias arguments that give the modern guys zero chance
If Fury got sent on canvas by journeyman Cunnigham who couldn't punch, he stands no chance against skilled and powerful puncher like Louis. I can play this game as well, it's not how it works though. Baer was unskilled, but he was very powerful (definitely more powerful than Fury). Besides, Louis knocked out Baer in one round - are you sure you want to use it against him in this discussion?
Everybody has own opinion but by the facts Joe Louis looked very good against 220+ lbs fighters. Another point of view klitschkos,Lewis or Fury never beat so good fighter like the prime Joe Louis.. Otherwise klitschkos,Lewis or Fury are lumbering fighters compared to Ali,Mike Tyson or Louis. I think you lick the modern fighters' ass and this isn't an objective attitude.
Fury was not in his prime against Cunningham, Louis was against Baer. And their first fight lasted 6 or 7 rounds
Then when was Fury's prime? In 3 fights? Come on... Besides, Fury was knocked down twice in one fight by a wild and unskilled Wilder. I don't think there is a huge difference between Wilder and Buddy from technical point (and Baer was more durable). The first fight lasted 7 rounds only because Baer had very strong chin. Louis dominated him, despite a knockdown.
I think Louis beats him by KO. He'd be down on points, but when he catches up to Fury, he nails him with a huge combo and that's it. Louis is probably the only heavyweight I'd pick to stop Fury based in what we've seen so far.
Otherwise i don't accept when the boxing fans use the klitschkos like a standard considering especially their combined record against "modern SHWs" is 0-3 (Lewis knocked out vitali,Joshua knocked out wladimir and Fury humiliated Wladimir's overrated skill). All in all the klitschkos had problem with the "modern" SHWs but Joe Louis,Ali or Marciano never had.
Wlad has fought much more than two super heavyweights. Especially if we assume that a super heavy is 230, 6'4+. Even if it isn't, he's still fought much more than two.
