I just don’t understand how one can mock facts and stats (which don’t lie) and then puff their chest like they’re right lol. Like that old saying playing chess with a pigeon. Then they mock without providing a proper argument as if being bigger is a valid argument in boxing. Everyone was bigger then Marciano lol everyone had a better reach. And they all were on their backs looking up at the end of the fight. That being said I still pick Lewis. He was to good at fighting shorter opponents and keeping them at bay. My only argument was he does better then Holyfield and Tua and people go crazy lol The average age of a Holyfield opponent is probably several years older then a Marciano one but they’ll never admit they’re wrong nor will they hold that against Holyfield
I base these discussions on a fighter's prime., Lennox Lewis hit his prime in his thirties. .. The best fight of Lewis career according to Stewart was the Morrison fight .. for that fight he weighed over 240 as he did for the rest of his career , fifteen fights, and most of his prime wins such as Morrison, Mercer, McCall 2 , Golata , Grant, Briggs, Tua, Holyfield and Tyson .. Are you claiming Lewis didn't show monster power during this stage of his career or are you unfamiliar with the concept of styles making fights ?
A good dominant win, but what was the best win of Tommy Morrison? Where did Morrison sit among the elite at that time? At least when Lewis beat Ruddock he had eclipsed the wins Tyson had against him right when Tyson was still regarded the best active heavyweight even up to his conviction. Nobody had dispensed with Ruddock like that. By comparison Morrison had already Been found out at world level before fighting Lewis. Micheal Bentt flattened him in just one round for Peres sake. If he Lewis only hit his prime on his second reign, where was this world domination of his If Lewis is such the magnificent zenith of all time supremacy? Rahman spoiled the party after he scraped by the 30lb lighter Holyfield. Then the washed up Tyson was served up. for sure Morrison, Mercer, McCall 2 , Golata , Grant, Briggs, Tua, Holyfield and Tyson Were About the best available at that time, but each individually did not provide a defining victory to cement world supremacy. It was a collaborative effort. Finally it was decided he must have been special. I pick a Lewis as the favourite here. But defend the notion that Rocky should be entirely completely written off more than anyone Lewis ever actually fought let alone lost to.
!I'm getting carried away? What is going on here?! I'll tell you,its simple really, you are making yet another dishonest post. Everyone knows Lewis was above 240lbs for most of his title fights. If I was dishonest like you ,I could take his average weight from his last ten title fights, this would give him an average weight of 248lbs. Marciano won the title weighing 184lbs, that's a weight disparity of 64lbs! But like the other honest posters, I don't play those games,so I'll pick his weight when he won the title and compare it to Marciano's average weight in title fights. This concedes an advantage as both men naturally added weight as they aged but nevertheless.. Lewis became the WBC number1 contender when he ko'd Ruddock in a final eliminator,he was then matched with the WBC's number 2 Tony Tucker for the title ,both men scaled 235lbs Marciano's average weight in title fights is 186.5lbs 235lbs minus 184.5lbs =51lbs!
So what was Morrison doing losing to Michael Bentt in one round then?? Beating any title challengers on successive nights would take some doing. Joe Hipp took Morrison life to and death. Was Hipp ever really superior to Big Don? If Morrison struggled with Hipp I think he struggles with Don and if Morrison has a fight like that with Don on the first night, how is he getting out of bed to beat Rex Layne the next night?
There is nothing dishonest about saying Lewis was 227 for Ruddock and 229 for Frank Bruno while Lewis was still unbeaten and in his prime. Of course you are correct Lewis was 240 in his second reign. By then he was knocking on a bit.
Once again, we have people claiming weight is not a big deal, yet they've spent the last 5+ pages arguing about weight and attempting to low ball Lewis' size difference. This is peak intellectual dishonesty. Pick a hill to die on, then claim you were never on that hill.
