I already picked Lewis over Marciano. But because of style, skills, power etc. not because of weight as if it has much relevance. Plenty of shws would fall to Marciano h2h

Face it, Marciano has no chance against Lewis who is superior in height, weight, reach, skill ,power.
If I seriously suggested that prime Duran could beat prime Archie Moore you would laugh at me,but you want to entertain the idea that Marciano could concede more height, weight, power and reach than Duran ,and be competitive with Lewis ?

Charles Burley beat Moore. He fought better against HWs then MWs. I don’t put much stock in the height weight argument unless a particular fighter has a bad style for bigger opposition. I already picked Lewis over Marciano. I don’t understand the confusion on this part. It’s not laughable to say he puts up a decent fight though. A fighter amongst his peers whom was viewed as one of the best ever. Whom
Decades later was viewed as if not the best at least one of the best. Is not being dismissed because of a couple pounds easily gained from modern workout methods. A lesser fighter in old Holyfield was able to go the distance I don’t see Marciano falling early to Lewis.

Forgot to respond to this but can I see a source for these stats? Not that I put any relevance into it. Anyone who knows a lick of boxing can pick it apart.

Yes Burley beat Moore, conceding 2 1/2inches in height and 6lbs in weight, they had the same reach.Burley is an alltime great BOXER with great defence ,shifty head movement ,and terrific footwork.
Point out the similarities between these two matchups. How many heavyweights did Burley fight?2/3? Were any of them ranked guys?

My point was Moore couldn’t beat a great mw but beat plenty of great LHWs and HWs. Meaning weight and height aren’t really all that important. Think Moore went like 23 or 24-1 against 200 plus men. With the only loss coming against Ali when he was almost 50. He fought quality men at that weight too like Nino x2 Bob Baker Lavorante Cestac Davidson. Why didn’t the much bigger heavier men dominate the day? If it’s that big of a factor then they should have. But they didn’t. Must not be that big a factor.

The source is compubox in the book Ali boxing by the numbers. Can’t find them online have to get the book. Sure anyone can pick apart a stat that literally tells you how many punches were thrown and how many connected. Lol
