Froch never faced anyone as big as smith who would have a size and reach advantage over froch plus he is a vicious body puncher and good counter puncher. Smith wins imo
And remotely who has Smith fought that is any where near Froch's level? I like Smith but so far his biggest career win is Groves.... who was taped together going into that fight. Froch was a machine who fought top fighters back to back consistently.... if Smith found it difficult dealing with Ryder coming at him being rough and tough then Froch gives him nightmares.
The Ryder fight exposed what I always thought about Smith. He relies on his height way too much, he doesn't actually move much in the ring, he's usually smack bang right in front of his opponent, but because he's so tall he's usually out of reach and uses his offense to maintain range not his footwork. So against a fighter like Ryder who was willing to press and was not intimidated by the offensive skills of Smith he found an opponent able to get to him with regularity. And we all know Froch is a fighter who isn't afraid of getting hit and coming forward to press. He's not Groves who naturally sits at a distance and looks to counter which favours Smith's style. I see Froch getting to Smith and dragging him into his type of physical war and breaking Smith down.
