I know what the Americans are thinking ... that Hopkins can never lose to a white man. But it's not going to save him here, because Golovkin is mixed! Golovkin wins by UD, with a KD or two. The clinching is not going to work against Golovkin, who has a lot of grappling/wrestling experience.
Close fight, both have tools that they can use to negate each other's work and both have ATG rock solid chins so a punchers chance isn't really in the mix. I feel if they fought a 100 times they'd win 50 each, they were both a similar level at middleweight.
I like to plop this fight on these threads, just to ground people a little: This content is protected
A fight that many think Hopkins won, where Hopkins showed up 4 days prior to fight at almost 10K feet elevation, which obviously was a big mistake and where Hopkins easily won in the rematch by stoppoage. Sure you could call them excuses but they are the facts just like how GGG was ill vs Ouma and people may use that poor performance as proof GGG was no good, when in reality both these fights saw both men show up in less than ideal circumstances. When judging these hypothetical matches we should use examples of both men at their best not an ill Golovkin or a not altitude adjusted Hopkins.
Hopkins is much stronger than ggg and more crafty. A slow come forward fighter like ggg who has short arms to boot is just made to order for hopkins. People who say things like you said in your post never saw a prime Hopkins and simply don't realize how great and skilled he was in his prime. His defense was elite as well which is another problem for ggg. Ggg would get countered to hell and back bullied and get range and distance dictated on him all night long. Hopkins would be the ring general and win by UD.
No chance, he has never been knocked down let a lone knocked out his whole career, and now hes at the end at nearly 40. Plenty of fighters went the distance with Hop also with none granite chins
It's interesting that you bring up a robbery, fought at 9000ft in the air, in a 100° stadium in the other fighter's home country. B-Hop had to put up with armed guards intimidating him and threatening members of his team. He had a KD robbed from him in the third, which would've won him the fight officially, and he also didn't lose more than three rounds anyway. In normal circumstances, he stops Mercado in 7. Like he did. On the other hand, GGG hardly set the world on fire vs Jacobs.
In reality GGG beat Brook, Jacobs, and Canelo, now recalibrate your more accurate estimation. Canelo is not a blown up jr middle, he was a middleweight fighting at jr middleweight. He is rated # 1 PFP and doesnt own a legitimate win over GGG to date. It also looks like Canelo found a way out of a third fight.
Yes, Alvarez was a blown up Jr. Middleweight who beat Golovkin. Golovkin had 24 rounds to show his "titansteel X twitter certified power" but it was nowhere to found. What third fight?, last I checked Golovkin is shamelessly calling out Welterweight ancient Pacquiao for a payday. The farce is shamelessly doing what he does best and guess what?, you will roar him on with max support for it too. If Alvarez called out Pacquiao, you will be selling shirts about it in the street.
Golovkin never called out Pacquiao, Roach mentioned it as a possibility, basically fake news. Nice try. I'll give you an A for your effort though.
