Kovalev showed the superiority of his style over Ward's. He didn't show the superiority of his conditioning, sadly.

It was a competitive fight and Kova's jab being a big weapon against Ward but I think Ward showed he was the better fighter in both fights and this is coming from a guy who was rooting for Kovalev both times, though I admit I am also a Ward fan.

One aspect that Ward is inferior to when compared to Hopkins is the positions he puts himself into when slipping. When Hopkins slips he slips into positions to counter, Ward in comparison too often puts himself into defensive positions where he can't counter from that's when Kovalev made Ward look bad, he'd back him into positions with the jab where he'd be vulnerable.

But despite this flaw of Ward's he did enough to negate Kova's jab at times to edge him in the first fight and I had him winning the 2nd fight more convincingly up to the point of the stoppage.

Nobody could beat prime Hopkins at 160 but Hagler.

Personally I think he beats Hagler, but it would be very close. But Hopkins obviously lost to RJJ, I don't think he'd ever beat a prime Jones Jr.

Leonard would be tough from a style perspective with the speed and movement but he might grind him down as he was so much smaller much like he did Oscar.

Toney would be a tough fight, Hopkins movement might be the difference but I think you'd need a trilogy to separate them.

McCallum would be a tough one to call, he was one hell of a fighter.

But I don't think Golovkin beats any of these guys.

Disagree. Kovalev was robbed the first fight and he was winning the second wide until the stoppage. Stylistically he is streets ahead of Ward. Ward simply has better conditioning and Kovalev's vodka-based stamina routine is a failure.

Hagler was far more skilled offensively than B-hop, he landed far more punches during his career, he was an offensive master.

I was talking about Manny moving through the weights all the way from feather to beat GGG, no fighter that started his career at feather could beat GGG.

Deluded Eastern Euro fanboys and closet white supremacists are the only idiots who think GGG would win this.
I mean seriously, a guy who scraped a split decision to Daniel Jacobs, looked like **** against the welterweight Kell Brook and lost to the tortoise Canelo is gonna beat Hopkins ?? Good lord.
Can't stand Hopkins, his personality, racism and fighting style but his skills and CV are that of a modern great unlike Triple Hype.

tends to happen when you fight a guy at 43 years of age, rather than in his prime.

Actually it isn't as laughable as you think, yes GGG has an iron chin for sure but is very easy to hit, if you can imagine the likes of Hagler, Robinson, Hearns etc. teeing off on him round after round with flush punches is it unrealistic to think he might be stopped on cuts, broken nose or jaw ??

Popkins' CV is nothing to get excited about. What's his best win at 160? Trinidad? A blown up welterweight? I'll take the 180lb version of Jacobs that GGG fought over him any day.
