Hello AB, welcome to the boards, it's nice to see you on a forum with adults and not messaging underage girls.

Anyway, no, you're a wrong'un, watching you steam out the ring and straight down to the dressing rooms without a word, battered, bruised and humiliated was one of the highlights of the decade.

It was one of those moments that gets better every time you see it.

Broner could have been a star if he had discipline and could have remained at 135 and worked on his craft more. At that weight he had great power and couldn't be hurt by guys down there. But he was dumb and wanted the money and fame without putting in the work. He also couldn't stay out of trouble outside of the ring. But love him or hate him people tuned in to watch him fight and he had good crowds at the gate to.back then so I do see where the original poster was trying to say.

Incorrect it was actually the mayweather macgregor oddity that was the worst thing to happen to boxing this decade, then again at least it was awful enough to keep the door closed for crossover fights a little bit longer.

Broner´s personality changed after that loss. He was fun an charismatic in his own ways, but after that he became bitter. So, so damn bitter.
And it´s gotten worse and worse over the years.

 Broner hasn´t won a fight in 3 years.

What did that fight do, besides turn the whole worlds eyes on boxing(and MMA to some degree)?

broner never had the brains, not by a long shot.
also, he was clearly conceived via a 'quickie'.

There have to be. Dude is legit the biggest name on SHO as far as I know. Someone tried to argue that Mikey Garcia was a bigger draw yet Broner always outdid him in ratings.

This was after Garcia beat Broner.

I digress but there is this myth about Mikey being a superstar. He simply is not.

Maidana beating Broner was good for boxing, a ko would have been better.

Amen. It's like people watching here only saw Broner's lackluster performance against Paulie Malinagi, and then the beat down by Maidana. I've known him long enough to have seen earlier fights, and Broner was truly spectacular, much more so than Spence, Thurman, Crawford. There is a reason Broner was called the next Floyd Mayweather. He just wasn't ready for Maidana at that point, even look at how much trouble the much more experienced Floyd Mayweather had with Maidana.

Broner would have definitely been a cross over star. How many boxers have their own albums on Spotify? Broner's funny as hell, and actually a decent rapper. Rap is the number 1 music genre right now, so an undefeated American boxing world champion who was funny, didn't take himself seriously, could rap, had his own reality show, and a big social media following, would be a favorite with the casuals.

Broner is probably the most interviewed boxer by TMZ. To another poster, If you find Broner irritating I hope you find McGregor irritating too, and McGregor is still an actual thug who goes around punching old men. Broner was a thug but his was mostly immaturity and a ghetto upbringing. I find both their antics hilarious but it doesn't make sense when people try to paint Broner as a thug, then turn around and show adulation towards McGregor who is cut from the same cloth.

Great comment, and the reason Broner hasn't won a fight in three years is because he refuses to let his hands go, which is understandable considering the beating he took from Maidana. Maidana ruined Broner that night. One of the few times Broner did let his hands go he floored the super iron chinned Shawn Porter. If the Maidana fight never happened at that stage, a prime Broner who took boxing seriously would be in the conversation for pound for pound number 1, he is that naturally talented.

 Let´s not get carried away here. Broner mightily struggled with Paulie.
Not to mention the two gifts he got over Ponce De Leon and Fernando Quintero
