"I didn't say that though!" "Lying trolls" Watch. He will play dumb and try to say he was only saying Rushton wasn't the absolute WORST trainer in boxing not that he was good - but the first line totally damns him
https://www.sportingnews.com/au/box...th-savage-takedown/1lkwimkzpemk51gcu6qxvk2rpw What an idiot! Dude is a totally delusional narccacist
Yep I fully expect him to say something like "comprehension is not your strong point" "I never said Rushton was a good trainer" "stop trying to spin and twist my words"
Jason Moloney is going to be fighting the Monster Inoue on November 1st. He will likely be KO'd but you got to respect his gangster getting in there with one of the most dangerous fighters in the world. Moloney has proven to be tough and a good fighter at the weight he has a lot of dog in him so I wish him good luck.
* Sun Sept 27 Fox 507 4 am - 8 am WBSS CW Breidis vs Dortiocs. Then same day 9 am - 3 pm Charlo vs Derevyanchenko Charlo vs Rosario. * Subject to change and AEST. * Hannay Lawyers have declined to reveal the precise value of their 12 mth contract with Tszyu but said the five figure sum will help underwrite Tszyu training , coaching and travel costs.
Gotta give Foxtel some credit for the overseas fights they have elected to show. Povetkin kayoing Dillian Whyte was a rip-snorter that they took. Charlo v Rosario is also must see given Australian interest currently in the Junior Middleweight division. That fight determines a notional #1. Charlo is a big favourite but I like Rosario to pull the upset. He looked big & strong for the weight & plenty tough to me last start. I hope Foxtel takes Daniel Dubois v Joe Joyce from the UK also. Another one with lopsided odds but that is competitively matched. You can't write off the guy who made the last Olympic final, is undefeated as a pro & who put a whoopin' on the current World Amateur Champ on the way through the tournament. He will apply the blowtorch until the other guy wilts or he gets taken out himself. I'm interested to know which it will be.
* Rodney Berman CEO of Golden Gloves ( South Africa ) has said discussions have commenced with Jai Opetia IBF no 4 against SA Kevin Lerena IBF no 3 in an IBF eliminator with the winner mandatory challenger to Dorticos. Lets hope Mick Francis can pull this off . Francis also manages Liam Wilson and Justis Huni. * Opetia opponent for Oct 22 will be announced anytime now. Andrew Hunt confirmed for this Gold Coast undercard opponent TBA. * Joe Goodall still recovering from shoulder surgery . * Mateo Tapia Dubai opponent Netherlands Gino Kanters over 10 rds. Kanters lost a dec for WBC Youth MW Title. Fight will be broadcast live on ESPN in States with details Aust viewing TBA. Tapia last fight was streamed live on Aust You Tube ( i only saw replay ) . When details come to fruition i will share the details on this thread ( not illegal ). MTK Global like myself think very highly of this kid and justifying are getting behind him.
If the fight happens that fraud Larena gets exposed. Larena only faces cabdrivers and washed up fighters. When he steps in with a live body he needs Bermans bought and payed for judges to bail him out. Nielsen and Kalenga both did enough to beat him only to be robbed. I have strong confidence that Opetia will beat Larena senseless if Berman indeed makes the fight. There's a good possibility he gets robbed if the fight happens in SA but I think his team will be aware of that and look to make a statement to avoid such a scenario.
Not really sure about taking Jai Opetaia overseas to fight in someone else's backyard. That's not really an optimal path to the top as we saw with that fight in Belgium for him getting constantly postponed & then cancelled. I guess it makes sense from a financial perspective although Opetaia is one of the privileged few who gets to headline shows on Foxtel in Australia. Not as PPV of course which is where the big money is but still, he appears better placed domestically than most others. It kind of makes sense to me to keep the local ball rolling. In saying that, if it's an officially sanctioned world title eliminator or title shot, perhaps those are the ones you need to be prepared to travel for.
Berman will pay the judges off no doubt... But I rate Opetaia as a prospect. I think if he and his team take Larena seriously they SHOULD be able to get the job done even with corruption.
While I think Opetai is the better fighter and will win,I agree with the sentiments of others in being weary of Opetai fighting Lerena in his backyard with south africa, as many would know, probably up there with germany for dodgy scores and officiating in favour of the home fighter
After seeing Philip Holiday score three of eight completed rounds to Horndog against Junior Tszyu, you could be right about that. Apparently South Africa is where Queensland recruits boxing judges from.
It just goes to show that Rushton and Lonergan intimidated Holiday with their pre fight slander of him. Lucky for Aussie boxing that the judges were not necessary as Tszyu ironed him out.
