Stop the straight left right that’s it. Stopping it though is gonna be tough so either he needs to make it really scrappy and get in close and grab and lean on him or he has to take the shots until DDD cardio goes a wondering which might be round 6/7. If it lasts 7 my money on Joyce but I just think DDD will catch him prior to.
Joyce appears to be the underdog here going off various posts yet would it really be that much of a major shock that he wins? This is heavyweight boxing and both are huge powerful units. One punch, etc, as we saw with Povetkin. I'm interested so see how DDD reacts to someone willing to trade. Someone who will try to bully and rough him up rather adopting survival mode from the 1st bell. A loss, at 22, wouldn't be the end of his world (DDD) and sometimes, you learn more about yourself from a loss than you might do from a win. Age is on his side. Fury, AJ, Wilder, Whyte, Usyk are all into their 30s. They'll more than likely be gone in 5 years time when DDD hits 27. Only Parker at 28 (then 33) will probably still be around of those currently around the top of the tree or just below it. Although it would be reasonable to expect him to face at least one of the 6 mentioned within that 5 year period, be it as a gauge or a World Title fight. The rest of the group coming through are unknowns regards their abilities to cope at the very sharp end of the heavyweight spectrum. Lets hope that this fight lives up to its potential hype. I am currently 50/50 on the outcome.
I agree with all your comments The tactics to beat DDD, do not appear to be within Joyce's capability. Even when he has tried to fight another way, he ends up reverting to type and marching forward throwing volume with his chin hanging in the air. The fight (if it ever happens), will probably come down to whether Joyce has the whiskers to take DDDs best work. If he does and can continue to march forwards after round 5-6. Then does DDD have the boxing IQ and stamina to fight a different fight and win a decision. Or to work Joyce into a late stoppage? I dont see this fight playing out tactically any differently to Joyce's typical fight.
I make Dubois the favourite but nowhere near as much as some of you are making out. There’s so many unanswered questions with Dubois at the minute and you’d back Joyce to ask them. I’m really looking forward to this one, just hope it goes ahead.
This is a career dictating fight, an intense fight for both. The loser of this fight will suffer a pretty bad setback. Joyce will need to prepare very well for this fight, this fight will be brutal, Joyce will need to dig and probably scrape his barrel very deep in this fight. There is real bad blood between the two. When even your opponents mother goes after you, after her son manhandled you as a kid, will switch anybody on. DDD can't afford being made fun of by Joyce gloating, "Maybe next year mate". Joyce could be making a big mistake comparing resume's with DDD's experience, age factor etc. This is the type of bout were resume's don't matter, we all have seen bottom clubs outperforming top clubs when push comes to shove. Joyce will need to keep DDD off of him, if Joyce can't manage to keep DDD off of him, I truly believe that Joyce will be mauled within 5 rounds. Credit to DDD for taking the fight against Joyce at this moment in his career, he could have easily waited a year or two by the standards of making fights these days. DDD genuinely must feel the urge that he's ready to bully his bully in "devastating fashion"...
Dubois is at the point in his career where David Price was before Tony Thompson 1. It looks great on the tin. But what happens when someone doesnt lay down and punches him back and has some ambition?
A loss for DDD would just be a bump in the road, kind of like Bruno v Smith. But a loss for Joyce whose 35 this month really starts the clock ticking on him reaching the top. To win, Joyce needs to be able to take Dubois power as he’s not going to suddenly start moving his head. If he can keep the damage to a minimum he can start to put Dubois under that relentless pressure.
