Go to about 3:35 or so and look at Fury's eyebrow flopping around.

I was leaning toward the fight being stopped based on the cut before I saw this replay. Now I think it should have been. I also feel that if Wallin had the same cut the fight would have been stopped. What do you guys think? I believe boxings A side bias played a big part in the fight continuing and it robbed Wallin of what would have been an epic victory.

We've seen equally bad cuts not get a stoppage

It can look horribly gruesome but be relatively safe.

    Fury was lucky.

The large cut on his eyebrow didn't extend into any "danger" areas and the small cut on his eyelid didn't extend into any "danger" areas either.

The much smaller eyelid cut is actually the cut which the doctor will have been most concerned about. Same with the Vitali eyelid cut against Lennox.

If either of them cuts move towards the corner of the eye then the doctor will stop the fight.

Badou Jack's cut didn't get stopped because it was basically in no mans land. He was lucky to continue with the amount of blood pouring out of his forehead vagina though.

The typically superficial cut damage we see in boxing might as well be irrelevant compared to the head trauma damage you can't see. Detached retina's etc etc.

This has been done to death. It was a bad cut and maybe if it was a different ref they would of stopped it.

But thank **** this ref had some common sense and didn't stop the fight. God, can you imagine all the Fury haters, they already act like it was a close fight lol.

One thing is for sure. If it had been Wallin who was cut the doctor at ring side would have stopped it.

I'm glad they didn't stop it but it would have been stopped if it was Wallin I think that's undeniable.

I think Wallin was very lucky not to have been DQ'd for the most blatant thumbing of a cut I've ever seen.

No way he should have been allowed to win on cuts after that.

That's a clear cut point deduction. On the break in front of the ref. Pretty sure Fury's corner complained prior to this also.

Meanwhile Fury got a point taken against Wlad because Wlad kept turning his back because he's a useless robot.

and a point taken against Wilder because Kenny insisted on getting in between them & giving contradictory verbal commands.

Without a doubt Fury should have 2 defeats on his record and probably a NC against Hammer. McDermott was robbed in their first fight and the common consensus is that had it been Wallin with the cut it’s a clear TKO win for Fury.

That said, I’m not bothered about fighters having an L on their record. Fury learnt loads against McDermott, clearly won the return and as for a defeat against Wallin... cuts happen. He’d of won a rematch. My opinion of Fury would be no different if he was now 27-2-1-1. As luck would have it he’s 30-0-1

I think the fight should have been stopped (live to fight another day). Wallin can have no complaints about the outcome because even though it was a horrific cut, Fury went on to win very clearly.

Didn't know that. I neglected to do a search before posting.

Depending on the context a couple losses don't bother me either, and yeah I believe Fury would have won a rematch with Wallin. I'm really looking forward to the Joshua / Fury fight. Feels like Fury fights to the level of his opponents. Fury is looking the part for sure, but his best wins leave a bit to be desired. The Joshua bout should answer any questions I still have about Fury.

If you want to correct Fury's record, you have to give him 2 wins against Wilder.

Definitely is. He tried to get the fight stopped on an illegal move that couldn't have been more deliberate. We don't know how much more his cheating could have opened the cut.

Probably the most unfortunate cut from a punch I've seen. Wallin landed a true lucky punch there, basically struck oil with a spade.
He failed to take proper advantage of it. And all the raking and butting afterwards means nobody should feel sorry for him.

Fury got a bit of help due to his status, but the key thing to remember is that Fury was bossing the fight and that's why he was allowed to continue also. If the cut hampered him to the point he was getting beat up, they may have stopped it. We can't just flip it around because Wallin would be getting destroyed if Fury had blinded him like that and it wouldn't have gone the distance anyway. In no circumstance would a one-eyed Wallin be dominating the fight ...
