Gervonta Davis v Leo Santa Cruz Lomachenko v Lopez two absolute crackers Charlo v Derevyachenko another good one. All happening with or without a crowd. Spence scheduled to face Danny Garcia in November (but I’m assuming they’ll be hopeful of a crowd for that one). I know the PPV’s over there are a lot more expensive but it just makes it embarrassing for UK fans when we’ve got promoters telling us they can’t put on Yarde v Arthur which is no more than a British level fight, Dubois Joyce would be a cracking fight, none of them are superstars and it’s already on PPV, WHY is it so reliant on a gate? There’s plenty of other fights to be made too. Get Smith Ryder rematch on if the Smith vs Saunders fight needs a gate. I’m sure the first fight was just on normal sky? (I may be wrong). So put it on PPV and cover the gate. Joshua is worth 100s of millions, get him in with Pulev just on PPV it would probably do huge numbers 700k + I’m sure he could compromise in the current climate. My point is there’s top fighters (and promoters) in the US making top fights happen regardless of the situation and look at the **** (what little) we are getting)! it’s pathetic. On a side note I believe EFL clubs are allowed 1000 fans in this weekend so hopefully this will push us In right direction
Sorry I take some of it back. This content is protected so over to you Frank. Surely you can make fights happen?
Surely the point is that those big US fights will be on PPV and will earn money and the fighters will be paid ? Yarde vs Buatsi doesn't earn enough money without a crowd. And it isnt likely to be on another ppv without a crowd as it will eat into the money that goes to the main event fighters.
Loma vs Lopez isn't on PPV and is as good as it gets... Think Loma took a pay cut to get it over the line though
Yarde vs Buatsi wasn’t even on the table. Yarde vs Lyndon Arthur is/was and now in doubt! It’s ridiculous.
Mass unemployment on the way as the furlough scheme ends - hopefully this pay per pudding nonsense will be hit hard driving down the purses paid to puddings. Dullian Whyte the classic example and he has earned obscene sums for being the present day Danny Williams in his prime. Eh Day and the fighters acting as though the economy is booming - PPV Mugths money as usual please.
A 2nd spike and the furlough scheme coming to and end is going to be bad news, add the winter element to it too. fingers crossed for a vaccine
Think they got around 190k buys for that fight and one or two on here were almost championing them figures, saying that it proves he’s a big draw and all that. It does my nut in...loads of us are really struggling though financially. I genuinely couldn’t afford the £20 even if I did want to buy it. Every pound matters at the minute because the government are still making it extremely difficult for me to work with their contradictory b****cks.
There is going to be a big pinch for many with the worst global and UK recession for many a year. Whyte has already earned at least £50m from PPVs and the Tony Dosh figure must be frightening yet they can't get enough. The multi millionaires keep taking and taking leaving many genuine fans unable to afford viewing sports they love to watch. It is all wrong and a working class sport is no longer if hardly anyone in the UK watches it.
Talking of upcoming US shows, looking forward to seeing Efe Ajagba return against Jonathan Rice this weekend. The 6’6 Wilder lookalike is definitely one of the better heavyweight prospects.
He does look like he has heavy hands but got knocked down against Kiladze which should have been a routine KO win for him.
He’s far from a finished article but he’s a natural athlete with good balance, uses his jab well and has heavy hands. Ronnie Shields needs to work on his hand speed but I think it’ll be an interesting journey.
Recent fights discussed Canello vs Masdival Mayweather vs Jake Paul Makes you realise how on its ass boxing is.
