No it isn't necessary. ATG's like Armstrong rarely, if ever, used out-boxing, yet he had huge success.

Him getting hit more has more to do with his decline in terms of defensive skills rather than him facing superior opponents.

No he wouldn't get beat by any pressure boxer, Tyson was far superior.

No he wasn't. He was a pressure fighter, but his style was different. He kept coming forward and applying pressure, but he didn't change angles like Tyson.
Teddy Atlas explains the style very well here:

No, he wouldn't have to do that. It's a stupid assumption that when a boxer meets a taller opponent, that he must get up close to be effective. A skilled boxer using the right approach can take apart a taller opponent at long range without the need to rush into a close-range battle. Tyson more than has the ability to draw the punch from his opponent, slip and counter.

In his prime, he rarely did. That was the key to his success. His defense was incredible.

Tyson has always been a little overrated. Which has also led to him being a little underrated. Povetkin has spent a lot of his career being underrated. Now I wonder if in a historical sense we may begin to overate him.

Tyson should stop him. It won’t be an easy night though

Prime Tyson's physical attributes and peek a boo perfection would have been far too much for Sasha. And I'm a Sasha fan...

if prime, then Povetkin. Now he ofc is not in prime, he is 41.
Prime Holmes too beated Tyson easily. Holmes was out of retirement.

Tyson was stronger, faster iron chinned and had an underrated ring IQ, though he could be outsmarted ie. Holyfield but Povetkin is not the man to do it. Not enough weapons. Povetkin lucked up by getting himself out of jam and scored a knock out and now guys believe that he would beat Mike Tyson. Unbelievable. For note, that uppercut Povetkin KO'd Whyte with wouldn't have budged Tyson.

It's the same when fury ko wilder, suddenly hes the goat. Imagine if povetkin ko'd fury in the same manner. The world would implode.

It is not proven. With the same confidence might be told: Holmes from 1980 th KTFOed Tyson from 1988 th. In 1 round.

41 years old Povetkin was ...... like supposed easy next fight for Whyte. Out of prime, enough old to beat up.
Not likely eddie in real think that Whyte might beat Fury and A.J, therefore old Povetkin had been selected.

That's a good question, because it puts Povetkin in the perspective of Tyson's resume.

While Holmes is undoubtedly the best 'name' on Tyson's resume, that old version doesn't carry nearly the same weight as he would have in his prime. After him, Tyson's best wins are probably Ruddock, Bruno and maybe Spinks? I'd argue Povetkin is better than those. It would by no means be an easy night out for Mike.

By F. Botha's opinion Tyson was harder puncher than this overrated Wladimir klitschko. At least Botha fought these and he had
    a solid experience.
