Fenech was such a tough hombre, in close he would slowly beat down and stop Danny despite Lopez landing some hard shots of his own.
Man I don't know about this. Lopez could knock a house down and if he catches Fenech its goodnight Jeff. But if Fenech gets on the inside Lopez is done. Only thing I know is this fight will not see the final bell.
It would be brutal. I think Fenech is the better fighter in a pound for pound sense, but he’s a few weights up here and Lopez hit like a truck. I’d favor Fenech but not with a ton of conviction.
Not seen this match up before, good call, Mmmm not easy to pick a winner with conviction, a fight about ifs, so if Lopez lands cleanly then would expect Fenech to topple, if he cant, then would expect Fenech to grind him down for a late stoppage.
Fenech should be heavily favored due to his style but anything is possible when it comes to Little Red, especially with his size and power. One things for the sure, it would be a bloody all out war that will end by stoppage.
Lopez early or Fenech late, I'd imagine. Jeff was susceptible to walking onto big shots and could be wobbled in the early rounds before he'd really got his engine revving, albeit less so at 126 where he probably peaked. Not sure Lopez has what it takes if this goes past four rounds or so. He had a big heart and took a lot of chopping before he'd figuratively fall, but I see Fenech taking control from the middle rounds and outmuscling him, taking away his punching leverage and proving too busy and strong. He was very, very good at making light of any height / reach disadvantages once he had his timing and forward movement locked in. I'd lean towards Fenech stopping him in the championship rounds or at least grinding his way to a decision more often than not....Live puncher's chance for Lopez, though. Nice match up, Xplosive.
Jeff Fenech had that very bruising bout against Azumah Nelson, Danny Little Red Lopez also had those two big losses against Salvador Sanchez, who by the way stopped Nelson in round 15 on July 21 1982 in Madison Square Garden. What Lopez does possess against an aggressive fighter like Jeff is a very deadly right hand, which has put many to sleep. I see Danny stopping Fenech by TKO 9 in a very tactical battle with very good moments.
