    Shot.

It’s the one fate which no fighter can escape. And often comes knocking long before Father Time has even batted an eyelid. Once a fighter is shot there is no coming back, it’s game over. Finito. Hasta la vista.

But there’s levels to this game and most fighters will show signs of decline here and there before becoming completely shot. Nine times out of ten a fighter will become shot overnight, or more accurately, in the ring before our very eyes.

So let’s take a look at the current crop of UK heavies, the big guys. And see where each of them sit on their own personal, inexorable journey to becoming a shot fighter.

    Tyson fury.

Legs are shot. as evidenced by his stark change of style in his last fight, the once in a lifetime talents of the big man are evolving, and what a treat to watch. Fury can no longer dance his huge frame around for twelve rounds, so the twenty stone gypsy wrecking machine was born. ATGs evolve their style and we are seeing the birth of Fury mkII here, expect more brutal KOs.

    Dillian Whyteleafe.

Chin has been cracked twice now. Last time out proper lights out Ko at the hands of a completely shot to pieces old man in Alec povetkin.
Whyteleafe is at a crossroads, has the conditioning of a man ten years his senior, and has taken a lot of punishment in most of his fights. Looks clearly on the decline from a few fights ago and lacks the fundamentals or skillset to change course.

NO Brain, NO Chin but has a fighters heart. Will go out swinging but all signs point to a shot fighter in another fight or two.

On high alert, another KO will seal the deal.

So the first two fighters you think of are Fury and Whyte as being shot. Seriously?!

    Derrick chisora.

Shot old veteran fighter. Looks fifty years old out of the ring, fifty years old in it.

A wily marketing reboot by the hand of David d Haye does not alter the glaring truth. Old delboy is ten years past prime.

Tyson Fury took him apart a decade ago back when chisora had head moment, foot speed and an engine, now he is a plodding one paced old man with some serious ring smarts and a remarkably resolute jaw - despite it being cracked by Haye a while back.

Shot old man. Brings name value only.

    Big Iosh

Lost to a fat guy and was dropped ten times with everything. Has now evolved into an old Tyson Fury and dances around for 12 rounds. Expect more boring decisions and Schwartz level opponents.

    Danny Williams

The shottest fighter in the history of boxing ...... and in space-time continuum and all the multiverse.
There is not, never will be, never has been, in any dimension or universe, a more shot boxer than he.

    Anthony Joshua.

Strip away the marketing juggernaut, and the warning signs have been there for a long time.

Big AJ went life and death with a shot to pieces retired old name who never fought again in VLADD. Was lucky to survive that night against a 41y/o without a win in two years, coming off a loss.

Then when the musclebound plodder dared to fight away from home for the first time in his career, his mental frailties were brutally exposed by an obese little grinning mexican who took the fight on two weeks notice, proceeded to bounce him around the ring like a basketball and made him spit out his gumshield QUIT. Big red flag.

Big Josh looks a million dollars beating up shot to pieces old names (pulev povetkin et al) and second division scrubs - takam/molina/martin/whyteleafe types but put him in with a pumped up cruiserweight with a bit of ringcraft and BANG another comprehensive defeat.

No chin, mentally shot to pieces, the prognosis looks grim for Joshua.

Toe Haye a shocking omission along with Big Joan Fury

Both talk a good game but it is years since either landed a decent blow in a boxing ring.

Both even more shot than Osama Bin Laden
