I'm not convinced that Prime Foreman hit any harder than Lennox Lewis

I mean, Lewis was a massive puncher too. I would say Foreman probably hit a little harder, but what's the difference between an A and an A+, anyway?

Don't forget the Lyle and Chavulo fights, for demonstrations of George's power.

 

Foreman has more brute power IMO, but Lennox had the better accuracy and technique. In terms of rating them as punchers there’s not much to separate them, but in terms of just rating there power I’d give Foreman the edge

 

I think Lennox hit harder and was more concusive. His punches were technically better and he turned them over. Foreman swings his but he didn't turn his fist over and sit on them in the way Lennox did. Lennox is also significantly heavier and imo more explosive

 

Holyfield claimed that old Foreman hit harder than Lewis.

Now if he is right, then we would have to conclude that he same is true of young Foreman.

 

If Foreman was as precise and as good at setting up punches as Lewis was I think he would have hit harder. I saw an interview of a guy who sparred Frazier and Foreman, he said Frazier hit harder because he hit you with cleaner shots while foreman had more brute force

Let's say everyone agreed with you that Lewis hit about the same as Foreman.

What difference does it make? Lewis still brutally stopped Tyson. We both know that's the only reason you started this discussion.

 

it’s very hard in general to compare the exact amount of power one fighter exerted over another. I think that both Lennox Lewis and George Foreman hit exceptionally hard and both had very different delivery systems.

 

I think hammering the durable George Chuvalo to a stoppage was a significant display of Foreman’s power but I won’t say who hit harder either way
