How is that even relevant in a H2H fantasy match-up where the best versions of both guys are pitted against each other? Golovkins consistency came to an end when he fought Canelo , a guy who shut down his offence and made him miss 700 punches. Canelo's drawback - he has poor stamina and a low workrate. . Toney doesn't suffer those flaws and can also do everything Canelo can. The data doesn't support a Golovkin victory.
Golovkin beat Canelo first time around by most people's opinions. Must watch the second one again some time. Golovkin's a better puncher than Toney at 160 with a higher work rate imo. It's going to points most likely, I reckon it's a close decision either way, probably disputed and I pick GGG, so no matter what your data says, I don't agree, right?
Golovkin won't deliver his power against Toney for the exact same reason he didn't deliver on Canelo - the counter. . Go back to the Kell Brook fight to see how easily Golovkin is to blow open when throws those looping roundhouse punches.. He could open up like that on welter weight , but not against the elite at 160. . This is why he threw mostly jabs in the Canelo fights , most which were actually slipped , parried and blocked by Canelo , but his fanboys think otherwise. And yeah the data is correct. The data shows Toney threw more punches against similar opposition , so i don't know what makes you think its GGG who would outwork Toney. Another piece of data , Toney made Jirov miss 800 punches out of 1030. . Weight didn't allow Tony to make Jirov miss that often , he skills , defence and counter punching ability did.
Yeah, Toney was really clever, he was a really good boxer. To be fair, he could win it. It goes to points and it's what the judges would go for. I don't know about fanboys, who cares about them. I don't spend my life on forums. GGG's resume is good, but you see, I just prefer Golovkin's pressure and workrate at 160 over the distance vs Toney. Nice we can have our own opinions, isn't it?
... waited until Golovkin got old, pumped himself full of drugs and STILL got out worked? 650, if you're talking the Canelo/GGG 2 match. If we buy into Dinologic (tm) then let's talk about Tiberi, who made Toney miss about 650 himself in their match, while landing 439 of his own. Can we infer from that, Toney has no defence? McCallum likewise outworked Toney and made him miss over 500 times. I guess Toney must have sucked, using Dinologic.
The above assumes that the sort of pressure and workrate you write of would be effective against an opponent of Toney's caliber. We watched it barely get him past Jacobs and fail to get him past Canelo (x2). Toney is superior to both.
Just to add more info, Toney and Sanderline Williams weighed in a few pounds over 160 in their first match and James might have been a little fortunate to get a draw.
Apart from the Tiberi match, the result of which was hotly debated, and Sanderline Williams, Toney was held to a draw by Mike McCallum too. I think he won a close rematch. Just to put things in context.
Do people actually believe some of the **** they're writing??? GGG quicker than Toney? Canelo has a better defence? GGG had better opposition? At this point I'm almost convinced quite a few people in here haven't watched Toney. GGG was at no point quicker than Toney. None. And even if he was, which he wasn't, it wouldn't matter anyway. We're not talking about the amateur version of GGG, we're talking about the early 2010s prime version. Said version was NOT quicker than Toney. And neither was the version in the amateurs, he wasn't even quicker than Dirrell.
Toney was unfortunate to not receive the nod against Williams and he put any doubts about that to bed in their rematch. Wins over McCallum, Nunn and Johnson are just plainly superior to anything on Golovkin's record. Just to put things into context.
Most folks thought he won Mc Callum I.And Mc Callum is better than GGG himself, certainly better than anybody GGG faced. The Tiberi fight is out because this about the best version of Toney.Weak ass arguments from you pu continue.Seems like you also have an agenda. These unobjective debates are so boring.
Toney was young and in his middleweight days when he drew with Sanderline Williams, McCallum and had the debatable fight with Tiberi. Those were his 160 lb days. They are the facts. If the facts upset you, too bad. I'm not here to please you or agree with you. No agenda. Toney was a very good fighter as a middleweight, but he didn't win all his fights, end of. We're done here.
